This was mentioned once or twice when talking with my local postmaster about postage. But it just sunk in and got me interested now.
It costs an extra .12 if you address an envelope in a nonstandard way.
"It has an address parallel to the shorter dimension of the mailpiece" is more accurate.
Can't think how to describe it better.
I'll try to draw it with letter. This isn't gonna be pretty.
