It is very similar. I was reading an article (http://www.cbc.ca/technology/story/2007/02/28/tech-ning-20070228.html) on the CBC this morning about the social network service that Netscape Communications Corp. founder Marc Andreessen, has created called www.ning.com. In the article he says:
"Today's social networking services are fantastic, but they are very similar in approach to AOL, Compuserve, and Prodigy in the early nineties."
