But its just correlation from hindsight. Only if the researchers can predict the future trends and show a good success rate - does this become interesting.
I recall reading about some research that showed a correlation between the economy and the Playboy models. (The more classical beauty - the better the economy... or something like that.) Unfortunately - that didn't hold true for predicting the economy.
On the other hand - lipstick sales to predict the economy has held true. (A rise in lipstick sales = bad economy.)
