Gosh. I wish I were smarter. So I could figure out what the drought and wildfires that ravaged the Plains did to the Sorghum crop.

If I were...I'd might "hedge my bet" to higher meat prices this fall.

Higher FOOD prices across the board???...well, haven't they been climbing upward for decades?

Anyhow, for me there isn't a difference between Wall St., the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and Las Vegas or any Casino... or the IRS.

the ODDS are in the house's favor. They WIN with my money...so they don't get to use MY money, except for IRS. I appreciate them. Cause how would we pay for all that great NEW infrastructure taking place across American and putting tens of thousands of people back to work?

Although I don't participate in the Markets...

...I keep a watch on trends and current events. You never know when you might see an opportunity.

We're 10 days away from the 10th anniversary of 911.

The world is still on fire..Libya seems to have been won by the rebels...who have the daunting task of rebuilding the country...let's hope they have enough water to do it. Middle East on BIG fire, with violence predicted for the "Palestine Statehood" discussion coming to UN.

Tornado season is mostly over...now Hurricane season...and EARTHQUAKES.

So, how you all doing?

I've lost 16 pounds in the last six weeks with my "don't let em kill you" diet. The em would be the medical professionals I've had to deal with...spent 15 days in the hospital and the rest of the time in bed...some thought DEATH bed...

But...here I am.

Short version: Super Dehydrated. Kidney failure. Bowels quit working. Medication reaction which created worse problems...viral and fungal infections.

I know this: the HOSPITAL is no place to be if you are trying to get well.

I have several more tests to do...but, as of today, at least...my body seems to be working and my mind is at least attempting.

LESSONS? Sure.

The Doom and Gloom of World events comes to a screeching halt when some intern is sticking tubes down your throat and up your butt (fortunately, not the same tube...although, I had to keep an eye on them).

One nurse gave me the wrong medication (which I caught in time)...
Another one ordered a procedure (convinced the absentee doctor I needed it)...which was totally unnecessary.

Two doctors within an hour of each other gave totally opposite instructions...etc. etc., and typical hospital type stuff.

But they haven't killed me yet. I'm doing my best not to let em.

In August of 2009 they killed my friend Phyllis. In Jan. 2010 they killed my mother...and now they're after me.

Or maybe, it's not about me and more about the state of our medical care...and why oh why didn't I go to law school and become a John Edwards type lawyer??????

I'd be rich as rich can be.

So, friends, I don't have anything useful to add to the current discussions here.

I'm glad to be able to read it, hell, glad to be able to see.
And to read.
And to breathe even.

NOW my next adventure is focused on (by survival instinct)...

FOOD and DIET.

I see we've had some discussion started. Based on the American Supermarket...which has more "food" available than anywhere else in the world...and I'm all for the freedom to choose how you want to kill yourself...

be it via tobacco
guns
carbohydrates
potato chips and pop (soda)

As long as you don't harm others.

Ah, but there's the rub. The costs of caring for the 30 year two pack a day smoker are killing us all.

I'd love to be able to rant and rave some more...just wanted to hit some highlights...

but, when it comes down to it...

iffin you ain't got your health...and it is MOSTLY (some would justifiably argue totally) your responsibilty and

your health comes down to 3 key factors.

Genes. Which you can do something about...be aware.
Diet. What you CHOOSE to put into your body.
Exercise. Whether you give your body a chance or not.

The fourth factor... QUALITY health care (and even if you have a private wing at the Cleveland Clinic...you still may be dead after the health CARE professionals get through with you)...

For the rest of us, we must become actively involved in our health...and do everything we can to maintain good health and combat any attacks made by bugs, infections and professional health care givers.

Gordon

PS. If you called, and I DID NOT call you back...feel free to try me again while I'm felling up to the task, OK?

PPS. My lose weight, shrink your ass down quickly Diet book should be hitting the Border's shelves any day now.
