To add value the poster has to be upfront so others can add to it. Problem with Don's posts is, he leads people on and from my research of him in the archives has a history of exaggerating his claims. |
Hey! "Exaggeration-Boy!"

Click on over to this guy's site.... http://okjr.ws/mugs
Then....give him a call and ask him...what he's charging for ads on HIS Mugs. When he tells you $550 per ad with 8 Ads on a Mug....tell HIM "HE's Exaggerating!" Then ask him "How many restaurants he's placed HIS Mugs"....and when he tells you..."Over 100 in 7 States!" .....tell HIM "He's Exaggerating!" I post up what I've done for 2 reasons....BECAUSE I'M PASSIONATE and PROUD about WHAT I DO and HAVE DONE.....and MAYBE....just MAYBE.... what I've done MIGHT give "Hope" to someone else!".....that IF this guy can do THIS...maybe I can too. However....most of my posts about what I've done...bring the "Skeptics Out From Under Their Rock!"...where they get their "jollies" by attacking. Oh...Mr "Exaggeration-Boy"....I've attached another Photo of something I've done and am Proud of; In my hands I am holding a recent project called, "PHARMACY-BAG Advertising". I provide FREE Bags to Pharmacies and I put Ads of businesses who'd like to have their ads seen by people getting prescriptions (I'm holding Bags from 20 pharmacies) If I told you how much I NET on each Pharmacy-Bag project....you'd claim it's another "Exaggeration"! Now....go do your "checking and investigating" and....I EXPECT YOU To Come Back and Post ANOTHER of your "Snide" remarks....so you can "FEEL Good! Then...go back under your rock! Don Alm...."Magnet" to those who "get their Kicks" from attacking |
Here's the "Secret"...
....to EASILY selling Ads for BIG BUX....on Coffee Mugs;
People who are FREQUENT customers of diners....those who stop in EVERY DAY....would LOVE to see THEIR MUG....on the Coffee Mugs they drink their coffee from. So....what I do is; Place a Card ON EVERY TABLE...announcing the coming change in Coffee Mugs...AND....if they'd like to have THEIR Ad ON the Mugs they drink from every day....to "DROP THEIR BUSINESS CARD IN THE BOX AT THE CASH REGISTER!" (where I have placed a box with a Sign announcing the coming "FULL Color PHOTO Mugs") Then...when I go to the restaurant 2 weeks later....there are 25 to 30 business cards IN THE BOX! I give these people a call...setting up appts for the next 2 days (Tues & Wed)....and....I FILL the 8 spaces...for $550! Works like a charm! Restaurants LOVE the FREE Colorful Mugs....Advertisers LOVE having THEIR MUG ON THE MUGS.....and I love them....one of the EASIEST sales I've ever done. Ohhh....on my Appt Setting phone calls.....prospects are TOLD the price will be $550....so I am going to meet them in person for 2 reasons; 1) Pick up their check 2) Get their choice of which spot they'd like to have Works like a charm! Now....that's ALL the details I'm giving out. Anyone interested in trying this... find a mug supplier.... make up a Sample Mug.... get a restaurant to agree to use your mugs... place Announcement Cards on the Tables (with Collection Box at cash register) go back in 2 wks to collect the Biz Cards call prospects on Monday for appts Tues & Weds WHALA.....$4 GRAND IN YER POCKETS! And....guess what happens at Renewal Time? Yup....the advertisers on the Mugs are NOT going to want to drink coffee out of a Mug that has a Photo of their Competitor! They either Renew or go to another restaurant or....let ther competition have the space! Yuck! The thought of the last 2 choices is NOT considered. So....RESIDUALS FOR YEARS TO COME! Don Alm....giving some "details" for the "Skepti-cocki" |
Hey Don - here's one for you >>>>>>
Hey Don - here's one for you
Last week I stopped into the local fish and chip restaurant that I frequent a couple of times a month.....l do take out so have to wait for them, and the restaurant is quite busy so there is usually a line up. This time there was a notable difference....just off to the right of the order counter sat a large leather arm chair done in shades of gold and brown. The actual seat had the restaurants name and logo.....the back had 16 squares approximately 8 inches square....and each square had advertisers on them...big, bold, and easy to see and read from anywhere in the lineup or waiting area. The only drawback was that while I was there some lady actually sat in it blocking the view of the advertisers. |

So Don,
Once again WHICH ASI MEMBERSHIP did you purchase? ASI Membership What part of that question can't you answer? Oh were you just exaggerating again? You can post all day and avoid my question, but as everyone reads on and your refusal to answer makes your posts still questionable. |

No disrespect intended at all, only an observation ... but I find it extremely interesting the things that we allow to become a strong hold in our minds and lives. Sometimes even the smallest of things will consume us and in the end they mean nothing at all to anyone. As children it is part of a growing experience and you expect it with children. Jim Rohn made a comment once regarding growth. I may not get it exactly right but he said something to this effect. "The reason they make second grade desk so small is because at some point they are expected to outgrow them". From time to time we all will let the trivialtries of life occupy too much of our time while the more important things are never addressed. They kept demanding an answer, so he stood up again and said, "All right, but let the one who has never sinned throw the first stone!" John 8:7 Remember ... "we wrestle not against flesh and blood". :) |
Re: $4,000 A WEEK!
In 'defense' of Don: I've been lurking in the shadows for several years (maybe 7 or so), and this is my 1st post. I've ALWAYS found Don's posts (ok, maybe 80% of them) full of good, workable ideas. I don't need to try any of them--but they give a good, base level education in (door to door) advertising.
At one point in my life, I was between engineering contracts (I was in the Defense Industry), and I needed some extra money. I 'borrowed' Don's idea of a daily restaurant special fax sheet. I put on a suit, went to a local hospital, stopped at every nurses station and asked if they would like to receive a daily fax with specials from local restaurants, and daily love horoscopes. I carried a clip board (so I wouldn't get thrown out by security), and had them fill out and sign I postcard I printed up--so my fax wouldn't be considered spam. I collected about 150 'permission' cards. I used Publisher to make up a page of business card size squares for the daily specials. Around the border of the page I 'created' horoscopes. Always something good or positive to happen for each sign. I took my stack of pink permission cards to every restaurant, clothing and jewelry store in the neighborhood around the hospital. I charged them $25 a week (probably too little, but I didn't test the price), and WALA! as Don regretably says--$1200 for each of the 2 months I needed the extra money. The hardest part was creating the horoscopes each morning! I made up 5 master sheets of daily menues (because Monday's menu repeats every Monday, etc). I edited in the horoscopes, and hit the send button. I quickly learned 3 important lessons: 1) Get off your ass and try it--who knows, it might work! and you may meet someone who opens a another (more lucrative) door for you; 2) If you get a 'No' from a prospect, you're just one call closer to your next 'yes'! (and you only need 12 yesses to make this work); and 3) each sale is worth $100 a month to you, so trudge on! trudge on! And a final note: Now that I'm back on SOWPUB, I actually search for threads that have posts by ADMAN. (I can't believe I'm admitting this) because 1)my time for reading forums is limited--so I limit the scope of the forum, and 2)Don's solutions for posted 'problems' gets my brain going! And if you hate the idea of selling face to face--get over it! Life is selling yourself--to an employer, a spouse, to a cop when you get pulled over etc. |
Re: $4,000 A WEEK! - www.MugsAcrossAmerica.com
Don's advertising programs may not be your cup of tea or coffee but they do work if you work them. Probably the hardest part of starting a coffee mug advertising business is finding small independently owned restaurants to work with and designing your contracts... one for the restaurant and one for advertisers... and of course designing the ad layout itself. But finding advertisers the way Don goes about it is not hard to do and there are no shortage of places to get full color printing on mugs.
Ads on Mugs is not new. There are several companies that have been doing it for years. For example: www.MugsAcrossAmerica.com http://www.eatmedia.com.au/ Here's a video of people in Australia Drinking out of Cups With Ads on them.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CSsvJ...layer_embedded http://www.sharedadvertising.com/presentationpage5.htm And there are many more. Instead of constantly criticising Don for being human go look in the mirror and ask yourself what gives you the right to judge others. Look for the good and expand your horizons! Hey Steve....Here's one for YOU

When the car business was going good....I was providing Car Dealers with "Fridge Magnets" they gave to their car buyers as a Gift. They'd take a picture of the Car Buyers at time of Delivery....send the photos to me and I'd make up a Fridge Magnet that had the Dealer's Name & Contact Info at the top....the Car Buyer's Photo....then a Calendar-at-a-Glance on the bottom half with the starting month, the month the Magnet was made.
I made some GREAT money with this (I won't say how much to save the "Skeptics" time in responding)....and.....with this in mind....here's how I started ANOTHER "Money-Maker"; I walked into a Pet Groomer's storefront, planning on selling the owner an Ad on my "Pizza Box Flyer". As I was waiting for her to finish grooming the doggy she was working on....I got one of my "Hot Flashes". She was working on a magnificent WHITE POODLE. This animal was BEEYOUTEEFULL....and....spotless. The cleanest it will ever be. As the animal was standing on the table.....I thought, "I MUST take a picuture of this animal!" So....I ran and got my digital camera in my car. Came back and asked the groomer if I could snap a photo. She agreed. I told her I had a promotion idea for her business and would like to come back later and show it to her. So...I went back to my office.....cranked up MSPub.....made a Frame with a Year-At-A-Glance Calendar....printed it out on my Inkjet on the Magnetic Paper.....and whala.....a BEAUTIFUL Fridge Magnet the dog owner would GLADLY place on their Fridge (for ALL who enter the Kitchen, to see) When I showed this to the Pet Groomer....she was taken aback and could hardly believe what she was looking at. I told her I'd make up the Fridge Magnets for X$ with HER Business Name, the pet photo and a Year-At-A-Glance Calendar with the first month being the month the Calendar was produced. She agreed....so....I now have a number of Pet Groomers emailing me photos of their pet owner's pets.....we make up the Magnets and mail them out. (I keep my Graphics Girl busy) So....once again....by "being OUT in the public"....where people are earning their livings....I was able to come up with yet another GOOD MONEY-MAKER. Steve....because you're a photographer....I thought you might like to see this. Actually....it's the Pet Groomers who are the "Photographers". I show them how to take the photos and email to me. I won't give out any more details....because I'm NOT "Selling the Program". It's JUST a "Money-Making IDEA" I came up with that someone can do some research on ....make up a Sample and go out and SELL it. I've attached a photo. Don Alm.....STILL creating Money-Making Ideas |
