That is an absolutely amazing achivement in 3 days! I helped a friend promote a site where the domain name didn't match up with the content/title/keywords and metatags but it took about 30 days for the site to show up on page one of google search results. It's still on page one and there is a lot of competition for that business but as you say if all three things had matched up, maybe it would have gotten us the results much quicker.

Re: $300 A day business but no idea how to market it

My experience with clickbank: affiliates won't find you automatically if yours is a new website with zero affiliates. But more affiliates will find you if you seed it well.

If you have 8-10 affiliates promoting your product and making a few sales with a good payout - then you will rise through various clickbank affiliate program finding softwares and plugins and scripts out there in the market. And attract a lot more affiliates.

But without the original 8-10 affiliates, nothing will happen. (This is based on selling various products via clickbank over the years.)

Now here is the cool part - you can use SuccessNexus.com along with Clickbank. You are not restricted to clickbank alone.

If clickbank affiliates promote your clickbank link - then your website will show the clickbank checkout button. Otherwise it will show the successnexus checkout button.

You can check this out at:
http://www.2wordstrategy.com/?u=[email protected]
Or
http://your-clickbank-username.ankesh.hop.clickbank.net/

(Obviously - edit the red part. And click on the checkout button on the resulting page to see this work.)

The best part is: you don't have to pay upfront to use SuccessNexus. So there is no risk on your part to use both the systems.

Re: DO THIS FIRST Samir

Hi Ankesh,

THANKS!

Excellent "Eye" by the way...and NO not a "Minor Point"

I agree wholeheartedly it should be TARGET dictates OFFER dictates COPY. In terms of order of importance. At least this is how I actually focus on things.

The order I originally wrote it was also based on where I wanted Samir to focus his energies based on the questions he asked. I was thinking "Backend Offer" which is why I put it last.

Also the first thing I noticed was the sales letter in my "opinion" was not that good. I say "my opinion" because he WAS getting a 3% conversion of cold traffic?? I'm still in shock. So I kinda 'bit my tongue on the sales letter. But I see Cornell already commented on it.

There were 3 different "you're probably asking yourself" type questions in the sales-letter. As I was reading I was acting like a potential prospect and I found myself shaking my saying "NO I was not asking that all". So I felt the sales letter was missing the mark by not answering the questions in the Targets brain. So CLARITY of TARGET was the first step.

So first Get Clear on the problems of the TARGET then his COPY would improve and then we can figure out what "BACKEND OFFERS" we could try.

As for "Offer" Creation itself. THAT would have been a whole other conversation. Which I am sure would come up once he started to re-write that salesletter.

But very astute Ankesh. TARGET dictates OFFER dictates COPY is the order of importance. (FYI: Based on Gary Halbert's experience...my phraseology)

NEXT

You asked.

1. What all questions would You ask once you have zero-ed in onto the target?

Hmm not sure what phase of the process you are asking about as i have a LOOONG secret list :-> But the down and dirty answer is.

I'm looking for

BUYING BEHAVIOR

3 Quick Down and Dirty Questions to get CLARITY about Buying Behavior;

1. What Offers has TARGET bought recently?
2. WHO Sold it to them? How did they sell the OFFER?
3. What Kind of OFFER can I GET and DELIVER that would satisfy the Target?

That is basically it. If I were drilling down a little bit more I would say following 3 phased focus questions.

3 PHASED FOCUS QUESTIONS

a. TARGET FOCUS questions:
There are questions I would FIRST ask to get CLEAR on who my Target is.
- Demographic, Psychographic - Age, gender,
- Biggest Fears they have about potential product or making the purchase
- Hot buttons etc etc.

b. COMPETITOR/PARTNER (Player) FOCUS questions:
There I would do competitive analysis of the market as a whole. To determine Who the other PLAYERS are, What is their value propositions, and How are they delivering that to the Targets? Can Create a complimentary value and partner?

c. MY ADVANTAGE FOCUS questions:
I would then determine my/or my clients strengths, weaknesses etc. (Standard SWOT Analysis) to create a better value proposition and win.

Not sure if this answered your question or not Ankesh but this is a brief way how I would look at a market before deciding whether to attack it.

Cheers

Minor point. Shouldn't
"TARGETS dictate COPY dictates OFFER"

be
"TARGETS dictate OFFER dictates COPY"
instead?

Also - to continute the conversation - what all questions would You ask once you have zero-ed in onto the target? What information would you look out for?

Hi Samir,

Thanks Glad I could help. Looks like you are getting LOTS of valuable advice and help here. Good for you.

Hmm I just relpied to Ankesh's thread with some of the questions I would ask. Looking at your post now. I see that you are asking about specifically 'survey" type questions. Hmm tell you what I may have already answered this in my reply to Ankesh. Please have a look.

My thoughts:

1) I'm not sure what YOUR specific objectives are i.e sell the ebook. Build an online business to make a million etc. etc. This will help determine how you proceed and WHO you will be targeting. e.g if you CHOOSE to Target Moms, your OFFER, your COPY and even your COMPETITORS will be different than if you TARGET the unemployed.

2) Build on your success; You have made 5 sales from FORUM marketing. DUPLICATE AND DOMINATE what is working for ya'. MAY be more profitable than the PPC.

3) Another "Market" you could target are LIST OWNERS like SKIP that are looking for valuable Products to offer their lists. AKA DISTRIBUTION FOR YOU SAMIR

4) In terms of your sales letter, you could incorporate your STORY into it like you did in your initial post here at Sowpub. This will help establish a relationship with your list. You have already seen the power of this right here at Sowpub.

5) Once you start to build that list. THEN I am certain you will get questions from your subscribers and you will then get a Feel for their concerns etc.etc.

Looks like you got some work to do and some J.V's to get done :-> CONGRATS!!

Best of Success

The folks that I am targeting are the stay-at-home moms, cash strapped students, fixed income seniors, the unemployed, the under-paid, basically anyone looking to earn cash either on the side or fulltime depending on how much time they have available.

Based on the keyword performance, it looks like the people that are most interested in my ebook are those who are looking to earn extra cash. I know that 283 clicks is definitely not enough to come to this conclusion but at least it tells me where to start.

I like your survey idea but as Ankesh points out, can you give some pointers on what questions I would ask?

Most people here have suggested that I build a list so I am definitely looking into that. It looks like many people here favor aweber. I am wondering if anyone has any experience with MailChimp? They do not require any upfront signup fees.

Thanks
-Samir

Hi Duane. This is my first attempt at Internet Marketing and although I too believe that the sales copy can use a lot of improvement, I'll tell you why I chose it.

When I asked a few people what they thought about the title "Earn $300 a day distributing balloons", I got three types of responses:

1. Sounds like a scam
2. Sounds too good to be true
3. Probably requires a huge investment

It was obvious why they thought that because the Internet is full of people who make false promises and scam people. So I asked, what if I offered Money back guarantee? and I was told, it would help but even that was not enough to convince people that this is for real.

So a friend of mine suggested that I focus only on those people who are skeptical but willing to explore further. So we talked about how to do that and came up with three questions that give a little more information about the business. And that's basically how we came up with the sales copy.

I am hoping that those who have bought my ebook will refer others to me once they have succeeded.

I am also thankful for the many tips I have received from you all.

Thanks
-Samir
