old posting....anyone remember?

Hi:

Am looking for an old posting.... have searched many keywords that might bring it up in the archives but so far have had no luck....so am asking the old timers on the forum if they remember it or who posted it.

The posting centered around one of our female posters going onto a military base and picking up something that was free because the elisted person was either being reassigned to another base or going overseas (don't remember which)....and the poster said there was more free things to be had on the base that could be chatelled but that her vehicle was not big enough to transport them...some came back with some suggestions as to getting some one with a truck (or trailer) to pick them up for them.

If this jogs anyones memory so that I can pull up the thread I would appreciate it.

I thought it was part of, or related to one of my old threads....but I found the thread I thought it was part of and it wasn't.

Thanks.

Hi Margaret:

Much thanks for this....I thought the posting was older than that and was searching the archives. It would have helped if I had thought about the word soldiers as keyword, but at 4am I guess the thought process was a bit numb.

You are right it has been a long time since we talked....all is well here. Trust you are also well, safe, and happy :o)

Shall talk to you soon.

Thanks again.

Cornell,

Here's another Military idea thread with some good resources...

Might get a few Thinking on other Military related business ideas and possibilities... ;)

Thanks Phil...but

Hi Phil:

Thanks for pulling up the link to that threas...I am sure some will benefit from it.

As for me it was a curiosity need....I purchased a report last night and a couple of pages into it, the content was looking very familiar to one of my posts on the board but with a slightly different spin (but still with the basic idea)....while questioning it in my mind I also thought perhaps I was just being overly suspicious....I went forward another few pages and ran into some content that sounded very familiar to a posting that was also on the board here.

When I searched for the posting I couldn't find it, but thanks to Margaret I was able to read it....again quite similar in nature but with just enough changed and twisted.

Just me being very skeptical as I have seen some of my content taken from this board before for reports and products, and I like to make sure of my facts before I decide to make complaints and raise a stink.

Cornell,

While I can understand your concern, you must be aware that when you post information on a open forum, you really don't have many options.

If you don't want information used by others, you shouldn't post it.

If it's on a public board posted for all to see, it's pretty much fair game.

Pete....

Hi Pete:

True to some degree, but the written word in certain areas and depending on the topic can be considered copyrighted.

Just to make it clear...I have no problem with my posts being copied or used if they don't claim the plagiarized content as there own....all it takes is an email asking if I mind...in fact I have had a few people from the forum request this. What I do get upset with is when they come in take the content, and claim the idea is theirs and then manipulate or spin third party stories in such ways that it is evident what they are trying to do.

I am pretty sure that I will be hearing from the person I bought the report from now that this is on the board.

further....

It would appear that this unregisterd user is in agreement with me.

Because Dien has not indicated in his terms and conditions for the forum that anything posted on the forum becomes copyright of the forum, or the forum and the poster, the copyright for the posting remains with the poster.

Many forums leave it this way so that they cannot be litigated against for postings that appear on the board....however a better way is to actually put in terms and conditions that posters acknowledge and agree to that any posting or comments are theirs and their resposibility, and theirs alone, and are not the position of the forum/board owner, and that the board/forum owner does not endorse any posting made to the forum/board unless so indicated by the forum/board owner.

Also, a factor that also has to be acknowledged is fair useage which comes into play when looking at copyright infringement.

Hi Cornell,

I specifically do not claim copyright over your writings... I do this mainly out of respect for the people who post!

Best wishes,

Dien
