Convert any file type to any other file type... for FREE
This web site looks immensely useful...
It promises to convert any file type to any other file type, for free! That means image formats (gif, jpg, png, etc.), document formats (doc, html, pdf, etc.), audio formats (mp3, wav, wma, etc.), and video formats (mov, mp4, mpg, etc.).... Files can be up to 100 MB. You need to enter your email address, and it emails you the download link once the conversion is done, to your email address. (By the way, I tested it out - one on a music video - converted from flv to avi format, and another on a PDF document - converted from pdf to html format - and they both worked great!) If you use it, please let us know how it works for you! The web site is... http://www.zamzar.com - Dien |
Re: Worked great
My business (promotional advertising) relies heavily on having camera-ready art in acceptable format for any of the 3800+ suppliers we use from one order to the next.
I just uploaded a .jpg file and received the email with download link in less than 15 seconds. The PostScript file worked perfectly. The normal charge for a one-color graphic conversion is anywhere from $10 to $35 and required 8 hours to 2 days for turn-around. Thanks for the link Dien. Dennis Bevers BASSCO, Inc. |
Thanks for the feedback, Dennis... Glad it worked well for you! (DNO)

Hi Gordon, Thanks for asking. These are some of the free tools I have used or do currently use. I have many more and when I have some free time I will list some more. To remove those, slow your computer down big time, Ad spyware programs. http://www.lavasoftusa.com/ As Gordon mention PDF995 and PDF995 edit. http://www.pdf995.com/ To upload files. http://www.coreftp.com/ Craigslist Autopost http://tinyurl.com/ygysoz For posting ads to Craigslist. To Build Paypal links. http://www.applytools.com/about.html On the left side you will find some free tools. The Paypal links creator is one I use BUT there Is a bug in it. If you tried it with a return link You will see what I mean. I have a small report, on how to correct the bug if you want it. Email me. Googles web tools, Keywords, ranks, etc. http://www.cleverstat.com/ When I want to know more about any area. www.census.gov www.factfinder.census.gov www.census.gov/epcd/cbp/view/cbpview.html http://censtats.census.gov www.loc.gov/rr/news/stategov/stategov.html www.statelocalgov.net For free searches for how many new homeowners In an area plus about 30 other free stats. http://www.melissadata.com/lookups/ On a different subject and a rant. Watch out if you use Paypal. I had read about this happening and thought it could never happen to me. I’m just a small time Internet marketer why would they mess with me. Well here is what happened. You would not believe this. This morning I got an email from Paypal that my account was limited. Meaning I was out of business. No charges, withdrawals, orders could go through Paypal. And no notice from Paypal, they just shut it down. Could not get any info by phone was told I would have to do it by email and they would get back to me in 24 hours. That would mean I was out of business for at least 24 hours. They said I broke their TOS agreement. Which I did not. Any way luckly they got back to me quickly ( After many phone calls and emails) and here is their answer. You'll notice they do not say what the reason was for them shutting me down. (I still don’t know and can’t get the answer, YET). They just did it. Here is their answer: Thank you for contacting PayPal in regard to the recent limitation of your PayPal account. We have further reviewed your PayPal account and determined that your account is not currently in violation of our Acceptable Use Policy. As such, the limited access has been removed from your PayPal account. We sincerely appreciate your business and offer our apologies for any inconvenience this disruption in service may have caused. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us again by sending an email to [email protected]. Sincerely, PayPal Acceptable Use Policy Department PayPal, an eBay Company Unless you are a real pusher if this happens to you be ready to be out of business for up to six months. That's right six MONTHS. And you won't be able to get a reason. They just do it. So much for my rant. Back to work now that I am back in business. Best of success, Skip Rosell |
A "correction"...
I tried "MelissaData" for "Newcomer Names" with a "Welcome" program I started and I discovered the names i got from Melissa Data were 6 to 9 mos old. Too old for my clients to benefit from.

It beats every other free email in my opinion! I also use Google Documents http://docs.google.com I use more than one computer - and creating little personal documents (eg. "To do" lists, lists of ideas, other notes to myself) on Google Documents, I can access them easily from any computer (that's on the internet)... Another one I started using recently that I really love is Gliffy http://www.gliffy.com . This is a web site where you can create flowcharts... I flowchart a lotta stuff nowadays (it helps me to organize things), so I find this site useful and use it almost every day! (I think you could also use it for "mindmapping" if you wanted to - but I haven't tried that yet...) If anything else comes to mind I'll post it... :) - Dien |

Re: Convert any file type to any other file type... for FREE
Bob,
Files of type .exe in almost all cases cannot be "converted" into any other file type. An .exe file is an "executing" program that is in a special computer format understood by your computer's operating system like Windows or UNIX. It executes the applications you use on your computer like Outlook Email, Internet Explorer, etc. No point in trying to convert it or any other .exe file. JohnP |
exe files
thanks John
I knew they were installed, but did NOT know they could not be converted... thanks bob ps...wonder why some bozos sell their reports in an exe file.? i hesitate to open them.. |
RE: exe files and how to handle them.
Bob, just get a copy of NOD 32 by Eset. Available at http://www.eset.com
It will check .exe files and make sure they're safe to install before actually opening/installing them. It's the top Anti-Virus program IMHO...hasn't missed an 'in the wild' nasty in many, many years. Some kind of record, eh? Sandi Bowman |

Thanks for sharing the above tool (CCleaner) and all the rest! I can see this "thread" could be very valuable - and could even save people hundreds of dollars (or maybe even more)... It's amazing what you can still get for FREE online! By the way, I just downloaded, installed, and ran "CCleaner" (from your link), and it seemed to run well! I managed to "recover" 350 Megabytes from my hard drive! So thank you for mentioning this... (And to everyone else too!) - Dien |

Oracle Virtual Box
I was taking an IT course, just this winter past. The program consisted of 5 separate courses, but to pass each one you had to complete a lab. Part of it was using Microsoft Windows and part of it was using Linux.
That sucked. I have two desktops and three laptops, but they're all running Linux distros. Oracle VirtualBox enables you to install other operating systems on your computer in a container. It's available for Windows, Apple/Mac and Linux computers, and free for personal use. I made a video that shows me switching from Linux Ubuntu 24.04 to Microsoft Windows 10, and then back to Ubuntu again: I didn't add any sound to the video, but it's in HD format, so if you click the little square to make it full screen -- it's very clear. https://stevemaclellan.net/add-a-little-windows/ I used the same method to try out numerous Linux Distros, to see if I like them or not. The same thing could be done on a Mac. You could install Linux distros or Windows if you wanted to. On Windows, you could install Linux or Mac. Note: some charges may apply. Windows wouldn't install for me in my VirtualBox without paying for a licensed copy of Windows. |
Google Keep is really handy
Microsoft Edge enables you to create apps from webpages. You can use it to create Google keep as an app. Here is a picture of mine:
![]() You can install Google Keep as an app on your cellphone. Using Google Home (for Google nest display users) you can add it to Google Nest. If it's in the vicinity to hear me when I realize I need more dish soap, I can say, "Hey Google! Add dish soap to my grocery list" -- and it gets added. You can add or remove items to any lists you have setup. As long as you have your cellphone when you leave the house, you have your lists with you when you do your errands. |
