I discovered "How To STOP Refunds"!

I've discovered a way to get MOST of the buyers of my Business Reports to "Stop Requesting Refunds"!

I sell "Info" products..."ways to start a business" or "ways to make money".

It has always frustrated me to get a "Request For Refund"...AFTER I've spent Time and Money...
.....putting the info-product together
.....advertising for prospects
.....sending my "Sales" info to inquiries
.....sending my product to those who order

....only to have some of them "Request A Refund"!

AND...what REALLY "Frosts My Fisterous" is when the materials they return to me....are COPIES of my Originals!

(How do I know they are "copies"? Because my Originals are in FULL COLOR. The stuff that's returned to me is "BLACK INK"!)

So....I proceeded to use my "years of experience in Sales and Marketing and "the Psychology of How to Get People to Do MY bidding"....and...after MUCH "Trial and Error".....

......I DISCOVERED HOW TO STOP 96% OF "REQUESTS FOR REFUNDS"

.....and I'm curious about 2 things from you folks this beautiful Fall weekend;

1) Is this topic of interest to you....who sell "Info-Products"? Do YOU get "requests for Refunds"?

2) What Price would you be willing to pay for "Info" that would "Stop 96% of your Requests for Refund?"

Please....I'm ONLY looking for responses from people who ACTUALLY....."Sell"... "Info"!

Thank you,

Don Alm

Don Alm I purchased the "Midas Report" from you and not only was it a copy but a very poor copy.

A Stop Refunds report would be interesting as long as it's beyond the obvious since a number one general strategy for most folks is to
have a better product.

So yes assuming this then give the crank a spin it might come to...

Re: I discovered "How To STOP Refunds"!

A small percentage of refunds is part of doing business no matter hard goods or egoods...

Quality products in my opinion and experience are never a problem worth worrying about... Figure in a 2-5% possibility of returns and/or refunds and you'll do just fine on your bottom line...

Of course you can always Create a need for any Problem out there... :)

Everyone tells us we need to worry about the problem of theft and losing affiliate commission so there are all kinds of products/software with solutions for it... But many will tell you it's only the Smart marketers that have Created the Problem... If it's a minimal problem, is it really worth worrying about?

Anyhow that's just my 2 cents on stuff...

And nothing against Don's idea... This is for Everyone's ideas...

Back to the original thread...

If you're going to create a product, any product, you may want to research... read and make sure that you can Make yours Better than the Competition... ;)

And in this case it's Harvey Segal's...

Hi Don - Here's How I Reduced My Refunds to Nearly ZERO

Dear Don,

Thanks.

You and I met back in the Jay Abraham Protege days.

I've been selling INFO ever since.

Here's how I've reduced Refunds to a trickle in my Ebay side business.

For Example:

A new customer asked me to look at his website for him. I noticed he is selling a 5.00 Report on *How to Do More PushUps Faster* - I don't want MORE PAIN faster. And 5.00 is too cheap.

But it Never occurred to me I could sell PushUps INFO.

So I wrote up my own PushUp tactic and tested it on Ebay for 40 cents. And it's up to 40.00 SMACKERS already.

Thanks,
Glenn Osborn

P.S. - What I do is write a Guarantee that says, *You have 2 Years to take advantage of my 100% munny back Guarantee. All we ask is you send us 1 or 2 Examples or stories Proving you TRIED our AntiGravity Pushups. A 6 yr old could do that. We'll gladly refund your munny.

Works like a charm.

Hey Phil....

Thanks for responding.

I'm hearing from some of my fellow "Info Marketers" that the percentage of people who request refunds is rising and I have NOT seen any "Info Reports" on "Techniques To Stop or Limit Refunds".

With your vast research capabilities have you seen anything on this topic?

Thanks,
Don Alm

Phil....you are amazing...

Your BookMarks must be like the "SmithSonian of the Net".

There used to be a gal on the Forums who went by the initials "TLC". She was in the East somewhere and was a Yellow Page salesgal. She posted mostly on Tony Blake's board and Bill Myer's when he had his going from Hot Springs Ark.

In fact, she was invited to be a presenter in one of the first BIG "Internet Marketing Seminars" in the UK....back about '96 or '97.

You'd ask a question and she'd have the answer and research back, in a flash.

You should consider putting your "BookMarks" on a CD and selling it as a "Internet Resource Directory".

Thanks for your response,

Don Alm

Hey Glenn....

Yup....I remember the "Good Ol' Days" of the Jay Abraham protege days. Jay was amazing (still is). He earned me a bunch with his method of getting biz owners to pay me a percentage of the increase in biz I brought them.

What I've always enjoyed about you, Glenn....is the way you;
1) Get an idea
2) Do some research
3) Then...you didn't just "jump-start" it into action....you "FLUNG-Started" it...meaning you hit it with everything you had....with '"PASSION"!

Love your "Passion" Glenn. Your "Passion" for what you do....puts you ahead of most other "info-sellers".

Thanks for responding. Good to hear from you... and, remember to "Thank God for what you have"!

most "info products" are junk

Most "info products" are not worth the paper they are printed on.

That's why you get so many refunds.

Re: most "info products" are junk

Hey Stewart,

Sorry you feel that way. I personally have taken "info-product" ideas that
Don, Skip, Woody, Gordon, Ankesh, Phil and others have posted here and with
no special skills......just the willingness to TRY.........turned them
into C..A..S..H.

AND......I am not alone, Stewart. Others here have done it too and continue
to do it every day.

Now, the ideas will not turn into a payday without the following:

Work, Thought, Good attitude, Willingness to learn, did I mention Work...and
lastly, the guts to get off your butt and do something.

So, instead of tossing out "cheap shots" at those who have been kind enough
and generous enough to post money-making ideas that have helped so many like
myself, Stewart....take a look in the mirror. You might come away with a better
idea of what YOUR problem with "info-products" is.

Thanks Don-The Secret Ingredient is Enthusiasm

Dear Don,

Thanks.

Finding & testing information products is Scary.

Some things Bomb.

Tough on the ego.

Without passion and enthusiasm You can't get a new info product off the ground.

After reading thru all the Sales Secrets of the big Gurus.

I tried 'em.

Nothing they did worked for me.

ENTHUSIASM was the only constant in all the *Expert* advice.

Like the story you tell of your 1st sale to W. Clement Stone.

It took some ENTHUSIASM and Persistence.

To come up with the idea of DELAYING his cigars to Get In The Door.

I have read about that on this forum, that was a very clever idea, on how to get a face to face meeting with W. Clement Stone..Some one on here should write up a report on very clever prospecting techniques, and sell the report, Thats something that I would be willing to buy.

Reporting from the after T'Day "Recovery Ward";

Back in my "former" life....when I was starting up my burglar alarm business, I had one thing going for me;
I was in a VERY AFFLUENT Niche Market. I lived in an area (Northern Suburbs of Chgo) amongst not only millionaires but zillionaires...and Captains of Industry.

I had a "product" the rich WANTED (a way for them to keep thieves away from their "stuff")....and...money was NO problem.

The MAIN problem was...getting in to see them in person, so I could SELL them my product.

That was in the days when security wasn't as tight as it is now. One way I "prospected" my "niche of zillionaires" was to go to their homes on Saturday morning....just drive up the long land to their home...knock on the door...tell whoever answers the door that I'd like to give Mr_____ an estimate on a security system for his home.

This is how I sold;
"Wm Wrigley III" in his Lake Geneva, WI home. Drove up the lane...saw a guy wearing a Cashmere jacket with leather elbow patches, riding a mower and 2 golden labs running along....I just KNEW this was the man himself. Stopped my car....walked over to him and asked if I could give him an estimate on a security system. He said he'd "been thinking about doing that". He lead me into his study in his mansion. Had the maid bring me a cup of coffee and I proceeded to give him a "pitch" as to who I was, why he needed a security system and why he should buy it from ME (I had big gonads in those days)

Then went next door to the owner and founder of "Murine Eye Drops". Sold him. In fact, I sold a number of zillionaires living in their "summer homes" that summer.

Sold Charles Walgreen and his son "Corky" Walgreen.

Also, another Sat....I drove onto the estate of Robert Galvin, owner of Motorola. Same thing. Caught him on his riding mower with his 3 dogs. (These guys enjoyed mowing their grass with their riding mowers)

Others were; Jerry Wexler (he built the Outer Drive East, one of the first skyscraper condo buildings on the Lake Michigan lakeshore in downtown Chgo)
George Swift (Swift & Co)
Mrs Armour (Armour Packaging)
Charles Percy (Illinois Senator)
General Charles Hafner
Harold Florsheim (Florsheim Shoes)
John Foreman (Hart, Shaffner & Marx clothiers)
John Swearingen (CEO of Standard Oil)
Robert (can't remember his last name) (Owner of Quaker Oats)
Elliot (can't remember last name) Owner of Lakeside Press, the company that printed most of the phone books in this country.

Got these folks by calling their homes...telling receptionists that, "Their Friend" (Name of my customer) asked me to call for an appointment to give Mr___ an estimate on a security system." This usually got me in.

I learned early that I needed a lot of "Centers-Of-Influence".

By "hanging around this crowd" I learned "inside info" that helped me "get in the door" to see them.

For ex; I heard that a certain "bigwig" had tried to get tickets to a play that was coming to the Schubert (THE place for plays in Chgo in those days) but couldn't because it was sold out. It so happened that I had installed a system in the home of the owner of the Schubert. I called him on his private number and told him I'd install a "motion detector" in his Guest House for 4 Tickets to the Play. He agreed. (There are ALWAYS extra tickets to ANY event) I then called the office of the "Big Wig" and told the receptionist I had 4 tickets to the Play I'd trade for a meeting, at the bigwigs home.
10 minutes later she called back and asked me if Sunday afternoon would fit MY schedule.

I used a number of "ploys" to get IN to see bigwigs. Can't remember all of them just now.

Also...when I was living in the mountains of Colorado...I happened to be in a "Fancy Bar" in Beaver Creek (near Vail) at around 3pm....

.....(If you want to find out WHAT is happening in any town...go to the fanciest Bar around 3 in the afternoon. This is when many biz owners, bigwigs and executives take a break from the day, with a few toddies before going home. I got MANY alarm customers by hanging around the "Wrigley Bar" in the Wrigley Bldg in Chgo...between 3 & 5pm)

Anyway...here I was in this fancy bar when I hear a commotion behind me. Some guys in black suits with little lapel pins were coming in and asking people sitting, if they'd move to another table. I asked the TarBender what was happening. He said, ex-President Gerald Ford was coming in. He was building a home up the mountain and he usually stopped in every few days.

Then...in he walked, Ex-Pres Ford. Sat down at a table and ordered a toddy. He was with 3 "local movers and shakers". I got a "flash". A friend of mine owned a brick-laying company. I didn't have any of my business cards with me so I picked up a coaster with the name of the place on it...flipped it over and wrote my buddies name and phone down along with the words; "Best Brick Layer in the Valley"!

I went over to one of the Secret Service guys...handed him the coaster and asked if he'd give it to Mr Ford, since he was building his new home. The guy got up, walked over to Mr Ford and handed him the coaster and pointed to me. Mr Ford looked over at me....I waved...and he waved back and said, "Thanks" and stuck the coaster in his pocket.

I forgot about the encounter and a few days later my brick-layer buddy called me and said he had been asked to bid on the brick fence around Mr Ford's home. Well...my friend GOT THE JOB and all from a Coaster in a Bar.

I've got more BUT...time to go for breakfast.

Have a great day.

Don Alm....reporting from the after T'Day "recovery ward"
