Another way to make money with Domain Names

1) Get a Domain Name that is "Specific and Special" to a "Category". A "Catchy" name that indicates THIS "Business or Profession" is "THE TOPS" in Town.
Ex: "SalemAccountant.com"....or "SalemDentist.com"...or "SalemChiropractor.com"....or "SalemRealtor.com"..."SalemHotTubs.com....etc. ..

2) Set up a 1 Page website WITH some "sample content" about the Category AND...some PHOTOS showing people in THAT category, doing their thing.
"SalemAnimalHospital.com"...some content and a PHOTO of a Vet holding an animal.
Note: The Sample Photos are replaced by actual photos you take.

3) Find the businesses in each Category that ALREADY have a website. Send a Sales Letter to those businesses telling them that YOUR SITE...with it's Unique, Catchy, Easily Remembered NAME....can also have a LINK, to their existing site.

Mention that this "Site and Unique Domain" are available to ONLY ONE in that Category....on a first-come-first-served basis.

4) A fee of $250 setup and $150 a month....is what has been received.

Yet Another Little Twist.

Yet Another Little Twist.

I’ve found that a lot of those domain names are already taken. But what about this
http:www.BestCarDealerInSpokane.com (go and see it, I set one up real quick for a demo) only one dealership has the right to be called the best in Spokane. Put a write up about them, some customer testimonies and a link to their website and inventory.

Then send out 20 letters to 20 different dealers (auto dealers are just one industry of hundreds you can target) telling them about it and the first dealer to respond gets it for a nice fee. They can use in advertising and get to be known as the “Best Car Dealer In Spokane”. There are lots of these domain names available.

More Twisted...

Great ideas!
And how about TheWorstOfYourCity.com

You could have it set up in categories or word clouds and
let disgruntled folks 'nominate' the worst car dealer, boy friend,
pizza, etc.

Best of Success,
Stephan

On GoDaddy, they have this thing where they place advertising on your unused domain names (ones that are just parked) and they pay you 80% of any revenue generated. Even on 100 domain names; it's only peanuts.

Other then building websites for all of these unused domain names, is there a better way to make a little cash off of them?

"Chicks" got no money!" And, dey got other things, more important to them than a website with a Unique Domain Name.

I'd rather make up a 1-page site for a Chiropractor who already has a site (JohnsonChiropracticClinic.com) .....send him a note saying my 1-page site with a "powerful" Domain Name can bring more traffic to his existing site...and he can have this site for X$ a month.

Its not only neccessary to have a catchy Domain name; but, you must have great content as well. You can attract attention with a great domain name but what about keeping potential customers on your page? Your content is very important. It should represent what you have to offer.

Hello,

Adding quality content to your one page website is no problem. There are a ton of article directories on the web with loads of content on almost any subject. As long as you keep the author's (bio box)name in the article you can post it on your one page site for free. If you want to take it a step farther you can place adsense on your site for additional income.

Just curious as I think this idea as a whole is pretty good, but how does a "powerful domain name" with generic content generate traffic for someone?

I suppose businesses might want to have this site and special domain name to keep their competitors from having it, but if I were the business owner I'd have a hard time paying for a site that didn't provide me with real value.

Don, It's hard to take you seriously when.....

Just a week ago you were asking how to do this very thing on another board....

Clarification....

Note: These are ONE Page sites....NOT "5-Page" sites or sites with a lot of content. Just simple ONE PAGERS with a small amount of content pertaining to the Category and with 1 or 2 "generic" photos as Samples, which are replaced with Actual photos supplied by the buyer.

The MAIN REASON WHY owners of EXISTING sites in certain Categories will pay for these ONE-Page sites with a "Catchy" Domain....is to get additional traffic from the Link....by people either Typing in the Address Bar.... "SalemDentist.com" (if they are seeking a Dentist in Salem) or Googling, "SalemDentist".

AND...these ONE-Page sites, with a Catchy Domain can be placed on the "Town" website or "Chamber" website, under their specific Category and get more attention than any other domain name.

Again...these are ONE-Page sites with LITTLE CONTENT that appeal to the EGOS of those with EXISTING sites...looking to be NUMERO UNO in their Category AND to get some additional traffic.

I don't have a clue, yet, as to what to charge for sites with any more pages than ONE...or...sites with LOTS of content.

PLUS....I am NOT trying to "SELL" a "Report" on this subject....so I am NOT providing more details on this subject...with Templates and links to some of the 1-Pagers I've set up...or a "Question and Answer" section on HOW to do this....HERE.

Since Domain Names were a topic here last week, I thought some of you MIGHT want to know of another way to make money with "Domain Names". Figure out your own "details" and do your own "testing" with this "One-Page" concept. OTHERS, besides me, have done their "due-diligence" and have set up and sold these types of sites.

Help me understand please...
You state the main 2 reasons people pay will pay for the catchy domain is
because their POTENTIAL clients will:
A) type the domain directly into the adress bar
B) People looking for a dentist in Salem, Oregon will type "salemdentist" (no space) into Google.

For point A), how many times have you typed "roseburgdentist.com" into the address bar while looking for a site that was about a dentist in Roseburg?
Tere are likely a few folks that will do a general search this way, but certainly not in the numbers that can command an ongoing fee of $150/mo.

For point B) Sure if you type "salemdentist" into the search bar of google, salemdentist.com will likely be the first one displayed. I have to ask though, what happens when you type "salem dentist" (with a space) into the search bar? Go ahead and try it.

The domain name itself doesn't guarantee a number 1 ranking in any search engine.
+++++++++++++

AND...these ONE-Page sites, with a Catchy Domain can be placed on the "Town" website or "Chamber" website, under their specific Category and get more attention than any other domain name.

++++++++++++++
Why can't their regular sites be posted to town and chamber sites?
++++++++++++++

Again...these are ONE-Page sites with LITTLE CONTENT that appeal to the EGOS of those with EXISTING sites...looking to be NUMERO UNO in their Category AND to get some additional traffic.

++++++++++++++
My ego is only worth so much as far as my advert dollars go.
Numero uno means crap without results.
If I were a dentist with a large ego and took you up on your offer...
based on what you have shown here, it would likely result in a handful of hits permonth that I would be tracking from my website.

I would determine rather quick if your ad service was paying for itself or not.

Don, quit BSing everybody...

I'm not a lurker, but I don't post here often. I'm just sick of your BS Don. Seriously, this isn't 1997 and business owners are more Web savvy than 10 years ago (which, based on your own Web sites, looks like the last time you tried to do anything online).

I will pay you $10,000 (no joke, Dien knows me, and I'm going to personally e-mail him to make sure he knows who's making this post) if you can find 10 businesses who will take you up on your crappy Web site offer at the rates you specified. $10,000 for 10 businesses Don. That'll bring you $250 x 10 + $150/month x 10 PLUS the $10,000. Step it up Don. Contact Dien. He'll have my info.

Here's the TRUTH if you want something like this to work: you've got to generate leads for the business. NO business, I don't care how dumb the owner is, is going to pay $150/month (+ set up fee) for some horrid 1 page Web site that generates no leads and that they don't even own. THAT is the kind of Web sites you are telling people to set up.

Stop it Don. Just stop.
