TW's public declaration, anti-procrastination, accountability thread...

One important step taken...
I have SWORN OFF watching the news. Fox tv -- all that.
Was a BIG HOBBY of mine.
Got me all riled up about things I ultimately have no control over.
The passion became an addiction -- and a GIGANTIC TIME VORTEX.

No more.

Now it's work, pray, family, church, bible study, eat, sleep, poop.

TRYING to stay focused on **ONE** particular project.
But then there are about (ahem) 5 other lesser projects.
I have a phone accountability partner / life coach (kinda).
Setting a goal of end of March to see if "Project X" will actually show some $-making potential -- If so, it's SCALE-UP CENTRAL for the following few months.

I am going to BREAK the spell of this God-forsaken ditty...
"Many a slip, twixt cup and lip."
I am going to get BEYOND all the MANY nuts + bolts (friggin') LEARNING CURVE(S) that get in the way of PROGRESS!

I am DETERMINED to friggin' FINALLY dig myself out of this mental MORASS!

Anyhow, I thought I'd start this thread as a makeshift accountability "journal" / blog thread.

Wish me luck --- FOCUSED luck!

PS: I am nervous as I hit the "submit new thread" button...

Tested and proven effective for overcoming procrastination.

There are Time Wasters who have spent years procrastinating...probably always will. Anyone who has used the Pyramid of Achievement has reached his short term goals.

The problem with all procrastination, in my opinion, is the SQ1 problem...

What do you want and why?

Answer that, and use tested and proven tools, you won't have procrastination in your life.

Hi Gordon,

Thanks for posting about the Square One Workshops!

It's definitely powerful for getting clarity in your life of where you want to go. I think I'll sit down and do one for myself this weekend (I haven't gone through it for a while, and it's about time)...

Another thing I really like - which a lot of other systems are lacking in - is that the SQ1 is also all about life balance.

Gordon's "5 paths of life" are...

Financial, Physical, Relationships, Mental, Spiritual

You wanna get all these in order so that you can have a balanced life. "Finance" is very important, but it is only one component in a balanced life. You need the others, too.

As I've found out recently, Health (part of the "Physical" path) is very important. (Thankfully, I seem to be getting back on track regarding that, thanks to a pretty strict diet...)

The diagrams look pretty complex when you first see them, but if you go through Gordon's lessons, they are easy to follow...

His "Finance" path gives a pretty excellent overview on exactly how "making moolah" works... He rips away the curtain, and reveals the mechanisms!

Best wishes!

Dien

30 day fast start by using the White Board and POA,

Many here have used this technique to flesh out ideas or to get projects done.

When I arrived in New Mexico to help Boz write his report on headlight cleaning, we set up a white board, his was a 3x2 foot board.

At the top was the timeline and along the left side was the POA. We set a goal of 30 days. Boz told me what he wanted to include and we set up daily goals. We finished it in 21 days because as he got more familiar with using the POA, his work accelerated.

He pulled in a quick 1000 dollars in the first week of selling, all within the first 30 days. He was hooked on the SQ1,

He wrote a book on piloting using the SQ1, had most of a book on real estate investing done, had a fiction story "Chessie" about an old crop duster who sits around the hangar playing chess...

And he made monthly updates to the headlight cleaning business.

He used the SQ1 to get his ranch listed, to get chores done around the place and he used the portable white boards for dozens of projects.

Others have found just the White Board to be enough to get them busy and to stay on track for a short while, 30 days is a good project time line.

If you only use the POA, you can overcome the habit of procrastination.

Like Boz discovered, you too have a lot of gold within you that could be mined if you overcome the hobby of wasting time and get focused on doing what you know you could do...if you only had the time.

Thanks for all the additions! Here's the here + now for me...

Ok -- the good news: My cold turkey swearing off of watching (or even following) THE NEWS, is still in effect -- so I have been able to keep that up.
The not so good news is that progress on "Project X" has been sporadic.
So... (as I said I'm gonna try to make this thread into a mini-journal of public accountability (he typed, nervously))...
Here are the steps I need to take next (pretty much in order)...

1) Add 1 or 2 twilio phone numbers to my data base (I want 5 for the initial experiment -- I already have 5, but I just found out that 1 or 2 do not qualify for what I need, so I need to replace them)

2) Write a basic video script (30-60 secs)

3) Purchase the appropriate plr video (I already know the source)

4) Make prospect lists for the 5 cities I have picked out.

5) LEARN the vid ranking system I have picked out already.

6) Using the above, make the 5 videos (ranking method + script + plr vid + music)

7) Implement the ranking system (THIS is what I am most likely to procrastinate over -- I need to LEARN how to do this -- it is an amorphous notion right now, and I have NO IDEA how easy or complicated it is yet).

8) Sit back and see if they rank.

9) If they do not rank, then I must try to implement some OTHER ranking system (I already have others lined up, just in case).

OVERALL AMORPHOUS TIME GOAL on all these steps is March 15th.
Then, I hope the vids will rank within 2 weeks after that (END OF MARCH).

NOTE: I will return to this thread to attach incremental DATES to each of these steps.

Cheers.

Thanks -- I'll have an update summary this weekend.

-TW March 13, 2013 11:26 AM

Update...

Still successfully sticking to the moritorium on Fox News -- or any news.
Bill O'Reilly could be dead for all I know.

As for my "Project X," I have FINALLY done one video. (not the 5 I had hoped for)
Now I am in the process of ranking it.
We'll see what happens.

More later.
