Idea From Original Forum... got legs?

Saw a nifty post on the original forum about putting a town on DVD. Don used floppies on the original.

With the technology on Macs these days, this project could be a real winner.

Has anyone actually taken this idea and run with it?

I did see the site mentioned in Holland, Mich... but it doesn't look like they have done anything with it other than produce a nice cover/package.

Thinking about a few twists with this package.

Warmly,

Millard

Millard, I think it does....

Millard,

email me or call, I've got a few ideas on this.

Gordon

[email protected] or my useless piece of crap HTC cell phone, and I only get 1/2 a bar here at the ranch, I have to stand facing NE, on one leg and hold one arm toward the sky...to get a signal, but you can leave a message and a time to call you back and when I'm in town, which is every afternoon and I'll call you back...561-373-4504

Millard,

Do you mind telling where you found the original post? I'd like to read it. We have started a site, 2 actually, that might be a variation (don't know cuz I haven't seen the post) of that idea.

The sites are: www.renostop10.com and sparkstop10.com. Only renostop10 is active at the moment and only 2 pages on the site, chiropractors and hair salons, are active. Our idea may work in your home town. Prelim survey tells us people like the idea. So, if they like it here they probably will like it there.

Tom :)

Tom,

The post was from Don Alm in the original forum. He discussed putting a town (I think it was in Colorado) on floppy discs (That's how long ago it was) and charged a few hundred for ads with a nice video.

I don't know about PCs, but on Macs you can use Keynote with still pictures and create GREAT video slideshows... If you are more experienced you can use iMovie to make some great video as well... you can then burn to DVD and then duplicate... fortunately, I have one of the country's biggest dup houses not far from me.

Hope it helps,

Millard

Hi everyone...

There's "gold" in them thar archives!

It might have been one of these posts, possibly...
By the way, I've been thinking of starting a "best of" the archives type of compilation... It would be free, available on a separate web page here at Sowpub... Any thoughts on that? Good idea?

At the moment, to find the "gold" in the archives, you have to do some "digging"... This would make it a little easier...

Best wishes,

Dien

Thanks for the sites. My vote is YES, a very loud shout btw, for a "best of" compilation. This site is awesome all by itself and there is so much info a guy can readily use but adding a compilation would put it over the top in the forum world.

Phil,

Thanks for the post. The google sites are excellent resources. Read a few of the links and learned something about small business I already thought I knew but now I know I know it.

...Keep smiling and the bastards won't know what you are up to :D :D...

Do a little "forum curation" and then...

package up the "best of" -- and SELL IT! Christmas is coming up!

Cheers.
