I feel guilty

.... I know that, while it is still fresh in my mind, I should be putting pen to paper to write a report on the pleasures and frustrations of building a business; it's probably forming slowly in my subconscious but I haven't had sufficient of an !Aha! moment to believe that it would be worth reading. However, I promise that I will do it - even if it's basic and ornery :)

I came across a project today that shows to strength of networking - and I thought I'd share it with you (what on earth would I do without the BBC?).

Detroit Soup is a concept for crowd-funding dinners that has raised more than $100,000 (£63,900) for community projects in the Motor City. It has rapidly spread around the UK.

More than 100 people turned up to the first Sheffield Soup in July. "I had no idea that it would be this successful," says founder Pennie Raven

It makes for some very interesting reading.

Margaret,

You are a jewel among thorns. What a great story. To think, I've never heard or read about this gem in any US newspapers, magazines, NLs, blogs, TV stations or radio stations. You would think liberal blogs like Vox and Salon would have been hawking her story non stop.

What a crying shame our own completely ignore our own. The young lady who initiated this program could be called, at least according to the Laizzez Faire Today NL, a pollinator. I will forward this site to editor Chris Campbell and ask him to follow up. If he does, her story will reach about 500K people in one fell swoop. I also will attempt to contact 300menmarch.com and tell them about this program. This is the group I believe more relevant than #blacklivesmatter. They have a plan based on kindness rather than hate, kinda like the young Soup entrepreneur.

Have a wonderful day!

Tom

Here's an idea. Send some of your Scottish wool to the US. Not the kind being exported now but the real stuff.

Looked up your city on google and was quite impressed. My son and his wife lived and worked in Newry, Northern Ireland and traveled quite a bit. They never mentioned Helensburgh but did say they spent a new year's eve in a Scottish castle. All he can remember is almost freezing to death.

Anyway, lovely location.

Tom
