URGENT - Marketing Methods To Find Lost Dog
 

Our dog got out of the house and just ran away. He has been gone since Monday night and he is still missing. Since I live in a city, he can be anywhere.

In order to find him, I thought about marketing and leverage. Here's what I did:

- Made flyers with pic and offering reward
- Gave flyers to all the local UPS, FedEx, USPS, police officer, street cleaning crews, parking authority who service the local area
- dropped flyers off at the local police station
- Posted over 300/350 flyers everywhere within a 10 block radius
- Posted at every dog park
- Posted lost dog on CraigsList
- A friend has an in at Animal Control so they all have pictures of my dog
- Asked the neighborhood watch to look out
- Posted at all local shelters and Vets
- Last night we had about 50 volunteers out looking for him (there are some really caring people out there)

We just rescued him 2 weeks ago so we do not have any favorite places. He has a collar and ID tags and an ID micro-chip.

I'm going to change my posters to say "needs medication to live" in hopes that no one will keep him if they find him. (a little marketing lesson there)

The only other thing I can think of is to run an advert in the local papers.

What can you marketing minds think of to leverage our marketing knowledge to find him???

Hi Matt,

Sorry to hear about your dog going missing. Hopefully like many other pets, he'll be found real soon or somehow find his way back home. I know you recently rescued him but nature sometimes works in magical ways. I'll send some positive thoughts going your way for a safe return. We actually trained our main coon cat how to survive and find his way home! Even though he's very territorial and loves to fight, he always figures out a way to crawl home... :)

Contact all local media's, press releases, etc. etc.

Create or get someone to help you create some videos regarding your dog on youtube and many other video networks...

Video these days delivers powerful messages, even locally!

Contact your local SPCA and other animal associations for help in case your dog has been found and just happens to be at the pound etc...

Hi Matt,

Sorry about your dog coming up missing.

Since you have only had the dog a short time it might not seek to come back to YOUR home but to the place it was at before you got it. Check with the previous owner to find out the dogs favorite places.

You are on the right track in contacting "street" personal like the UPS, FED-EX.

Here are some more places that have people out on the street. Homeless shelters, garbage collections companies in the area, telephone and cable repair service people, pizza delivery places in the area.

Also contact radio stations for help and some have lost and found call-in shows.

Hope your friend turns up soon.

We have found our dog! We got lucky, he found someone else dog and made friends with him. The other dogs owner feed him for a few days until our dog would let her get close enough to read his name tag. And she called.!
