Buzz Bites chocolate Energy Chews,

I bought 30 of these Buzz Bites chocolate Energy Chew vending machines and I have them all placed in different locations. Some are doing really good others are not. To place them I had to go door to door to businesses. About 1 in 50 businesses I talked to, to let me place a machine there. Even though I’m giving a portion to a local charity it was still very time consuming to get all the locations.

The thing is I need to find better locations for about 15 of them and I’m trying to come up with something of great value for the businesses that let me place them there. I’ve got http://www.SpokaneBuzzBites.com and I give them a FREE ad there. But it just doesn’t seem enticing enough. Then I thought about buying something like www.TopSpokaneBusinesses.com and giving each one their own page that tells all about their business, services and place customer testimonies about how great they are. But I need something that will not cost much and that I can set up once and has a lot of sizzle that makes the owner say HECK YA!!! Please place one here.

If anyone knows of any great location getting techniques please help me out.

Thank You,
Jason Hatchett

Phil is onto something here...

Some years ago...when Color TV's had been out for a year or so and were costing around $500 for a 19".....I was doing "Placemat Ads in Restaurants".

I had room for 16 Ads around the edge of the Mats. Well, I was getting tired of charging $245 for an Ad. I was looking for a way to get $490 for an Ad (double what I was getting)

As I've done with many of my Ad projects....I sat in the "target" restaurant (a new Chinese rest)...drinking coffee....pondering...thinking...looking at the clientele....pondering....thinking....sipping....T HEN, it hit me;

Why don't I offer to, "WIN A BRAND NEW 19" TV!"

I'd place an Easel just inside the entrance. On the easel would be a 2ft by 3ft Ad board with the words,
"WIN A BRAND NEW 19" COLOR TV! SEE PLACEMAT FOR DETAILS!"
With a PHOTO of the TV.

And...on the placemats I'd put the same info and photo and explain what they needed to do to have a chance at winning. (They had to sign the "Entry Form" on the back of each Ad and drop the form into the box at the front of the restaurant. If they filled in each form...they'd have 16 chances of winning)

Well...I got my 16 advertisers and the promo took off like a big bird. I couldn't get any Free Pr because I was a "commercial venture"...so, I had to run some ads in the paper and on radio...promoting the program.

Well...I was able to stimulate LOTS of diners to the restaurant...the advertisers were happy...the restaurant was happy...the winner of the TV was happy...and I was happy (16 x $495 = $7,920 less cost of TV and ads and I walked away with about $6,500 in my pocket)

So...by the same token;
What if you were to place some "LUCKY BUZZ BITES" in the machines. A "Lucky Buzz Bite" would be worth a chance to win a prize in a drawing. (You'll have to come up with the prize)

For one of my Promotions, I got a jeweler friend to get me some 1/4 carat diamonds that cost me $150ea. These were 1-step above a piece of coal but good enough to cause a woman's heart to go a-twitter.

I posted a graphic drawing of a diamond everywhere to promo the thing and stirred up some excitement.

Think about some way that will BRING THE LOCATIONS MORE CUSTOMERS!

When the locations see what your "Promo" looks like and HOW THEY CAN BENEFIT...they will WANT to participate!

Just a matter of coming up with a good promo.

The "Special Buzz Bite" buried in amongst the regular Buzz Bites is what I think can "Tie-In" your machines to bringing more people into the participating locations.

Hi Jason,

Don's given you some great ideas.

Here is something simpler: add a business-card exchange.

Make place for 6 business cards on top of - or besides - the vending machines. Tell the business owner that you'll distribute his business cards at 6 other places.

You'll need to go and get more business cards every time you go and re-fill the vending machines. And you'll need to keep a few spare business cards too (because the business cards you collect today can only be placed near the vending machines on your next round).

Re: Buzz Bites chocolate Energy Chews,

Jason,

Have you considered using a vending locating company for $50 a location. Some will find another location if you aren't happy with any of them. What locations are working well for you? Which locations "ain't makin it"?

I am going to enter the Buzz Bites biz too cause I think the product is awesome. I will be using vending location services. When I find one that works for me I will post it here asap for you to consider. Give me 4 to 6 weeks on this.

How long have you been in biz?

The more people that distribute nationwide the better it will be for you and all distributors in getting the product out there. So all your positive and negative feedback will help all to be successful. Heard many are successful with this product. It will get better and better for you once you get those 15 in better locations so hang in there.

Thanks,
Ray

Re: Buzz Bites chocolate Energy Chews,

Some ideas for you to (ok) chew on:

How can you make the shop owner more of a celebrity for letting
your vening machine sit in his/her store?

Can the candy be co-branded in some way so the shop owners gets to say it's their candy too?

Can you setup competition so that the store that sells the most candy each month gets a free radio spot on the local radio station

Those vending machines thart aren't doing well can you instead offer a deal to the owners of shops where they are doing well a joint venture.

Let that shop owner make inquiry to his network of business owners to get a placement and give him a sweet deal for it, 80/20 something like that.

He's/She's doing work for you and they are motivated to find a good spot since they get a cut. You with no leg work have a chance to have a better performing vending machine.

A quick word on samples

When providing Samples... say you provide a small packet/box of samples. Make sure you include an Order Form so the Sampler can order more.

Re: A quick word on samples

Michael,

Good idea and keep in mind Marketers can Sample just about anything these days...

If you're looking at getting into Trade shows and can't afford the High priced shows...

Consider Doing something Totally different... Pennies on the dollar to get into many of the Specialty Trade shows...

I used to Market High end Gourmet specialty Food... That's People food... At Cat fancier shows... :)

Some one's got to feed the Breeders...
http://www.cfainc.org/exhibitors/show-schedule.html

Our Samples stood out like a sore thumb... Opened up some Great conversations and Sold like Hot cakes... Shipped cases all over the US...

Look for Niche marketplaces where people are Passionate about their interests...

Get into their Network(s) and introduce them to Quality stuff that they'll Love... ;)

The proof is in the pudding... And homemade energy bars...

Jason,

I talk to people everyday that are having great success locating Buzz Bite machines by giving samples out and bringing along with them a presentation book. Put together a presentation book with all the articles that have been written about the product. They are on our site http://www.maddogenergyproducts.com
If you ever want to go through some of the questions that locations are bringing up or need some more ideas give me a call. By the way we now have sample containers that go on top of the machine when you first place them to give sales a boost.
