I'm looking for a site/service that does this... Any ideas?

I'm looking for a site/service where I can upload pics, sort them into galleries (thumbnails that can be clicked upon, then the view gets larger), then the site/service give the html code for embedding the gallery/galleries I created.

What's a good, free, web-based site that will do that (with a minimum of ads, etc.)?

Thanks!

PS: Flickr, for instance, does not do all of the above.

TW.

Got your own hosting w/CPanel? If so, check out the programs available via Fantastico. They have 3 different programs.

Thanks Pete -- But, that won't work in this case, cuz...

The site I want the galleries on are also 'hosted' on a free, web-based service.

This is bum marketing.

Have you tried google's picasaweb - I chanced upon this wedding at Gretna Green recently and made an album on Picasa. It can give you the code to embed the table with the images.

There may be other options around.

You can also make private albums which are not available without a key (I have used this quite satisfactorily).

Thanks Margaret -- that might just be the thing.

Cheers.

PS: Lovely photos. Looks like a right caring and happy bunch of folks you have there.

The picasa software which runs on your pc can be a good idea as well. It has some quick and reasonably accurate facilities for red eye removal, straightening images, modifying pictures ..... definitely not in the league of photoshop but for a quick image manipulation before publishing online it works fine.

ps - glad you liked the pics. The folks are total strangers to me - I just snapped a few pics as they were having their own photos done. I had stopped at Gretna for coffee before travelling north. They were very friendly and didn't seem to mind being the subject of a "paparazzi attack" LOL

Have you tried http://jalbum.net ? I've used it whenever I had a web design client that wanted a photo gallery on their website.
