How do you cold email?

Hello friends:

When you need to send a cold email to a new business prospect...

How do you couch the Subject Line?

I saw somewhere to use "are you the right person to speak to?" but that hasn't quite panned out. Almost ZERO response.

Any suggestions?

Thank you

Cold email has the lowest open rate. Maybe using the person's name might get it open.

And subject line must be relevant too. Tough row to hoe. Why? If it is the way you feel you must do it, prepare to send out scores of email to get a few to open and fewer still to take action.

Dear - Look Ma No Shoe Laces

Howdy,

Ok, Mr Look-Ma-No-Shoe-Laces.

No Email has to be COLD.

Not anymore.

IF you have their Email address. You must have their name. Where they live.
Company name maybe.

Doesn't take much to find them on -

LinkedIn
Facebook
Twitter

Google them.

So Now you know lots about them.

What I look for
before I email a Prospect COLD TURKEY (Which I only do if I am SHOWING OFF for a Client) ...(And Warn them to Expect my call)

I - Hobbies

II - Charity they are passionate about

III - Sport Nut?

Sometimes you find silly stuff.

For example:

A #1 Realtor was FLATTERED when I cold called her and asked, "Have you
eaten at "DUCK DONUTS?"

She LAUGHED.

Because I had just proven I had taken the TIME to Research her, her biz,
where she lives. And that there is a Duck Donut Shop down the road from
her real estate office.

Hi Glenn:

Thank you for that suggestion.

Yes, a little more elbow grease won't hurt...

Doesn't this amaze you?

Are people this paranoid?

Someone posts his email address in many "free" directories, presumably to advertise his services.

Then when you "cold-email" him, his terse reply is

"how did you get my email?"

What??

To me, this is already a red flag that this fellow may never graduate to become a "customer"

Or am I wrong?

How would YOU respond to the "how did you get my email" question?

I call them first

I call them first. Tell them who I am, what I do, and then ask them if they would like me to send them more info by email.

Or, it I'm around town and decide to do a little prospecting, I'll put their name and email address into a list on my phone if they are interested.

Steve MacLellan

"How Did You Get My Email?" is GOOD NEWS. Objection #1

Thanks Leopard, Panther, Cougar,

You Might Perceive "How Did You Get My Email?" as BAD. But this reply is a
GIFT. Most people won't answer.

You could view it as a GOOD First Step to the sale.

"How Did You Get My Email?" - is what we Marketers call an "Objection."

Objections are GOOD because they tell us
our 1st Test MESSAGE is not quite right - yet.

An OBJECTION Says, "Maybe you don't know enough.

Google has now put the front of almost any business or home
into Pictures - on-line.

So.

A - You Might Use the BEN FRANKLIN - "Ask a Favor" method.

Google their house or biz front photo.

And tell them you were walking by and spotted the
________ Flowers in their yard.

ASK, What kind of flowers are next to your front door - so I can bUy some
seeds?"

ONCE you get him talking about flowers.

B - Look him up on Facebook, twitter, pinterest, LinkedIn
and shift the Conversation.

==========
==========
EXAMPLE:

I did this with a top realtor in another state - recently.

I - Emailed to ask about a youtube video they did

II - Asked, "What is your FAVE donut at "Ducks Donuts?
(To prove I knew they lived nearby. It's very FLATTERING when a total
stranger KNOWS you think they are IMPORTANT enough to research
before you contact them.

III - I Mentioned, "There is a leaf in the middle of the camera lens
in your website photo of your business building.

AND
Discovered in their return email.

Their Website biz photo is FAKE.

They work out of their home.

Result?

We've been swapping ideas via Email and by phone ever since.

Thanks,
Glenn
