A blast from the past, to see your future.

https://mpowers.com/

Old friend Melvin Powers. Gone for awhile, not forgotten.

I call your attention to his publishing website, because, I am working with some very skilled, talented and diverse people, who have eclectic interests.

ONE of my suggestions is to do it all, after prioritizing for money gain, to fund the rest of it, and consider the Melvin way. Publish a variety of titles.

Horses, tennis, charisma. All book titles you'll find there. He did write many tomes himself, as did his second wife, Marcia.

But he also published many books too, from at the time, little know authors.

I also call your attention the SPANISH language collection which has been added after his death.

This is ONE way to get a lot of that diverse STORED VALUE out of your brain and into the market.

And of course, maybe without being a guru, or a 'name'.

Most of you have probably never heard of Pauline Esther Freidman or her twin sister, Esther Pauline Friedman...but for decades they were two of the most read columnists in the world, known as Ann Landers and Dear Abby.

Just to see the many, many folk who used pen names. Ever hear of Stanley Leiber? NO? How about Stan Lee? Yea, that guy.

One of my new age favs: Theron Q. Dumont, aka Yogi Ramacharaka, aka William Walker Atkinson, Theodore Sheldon, Swami Panchadasi and unknown other names he may have used.

What I like about WWA, is, he was an attorney who started his own PUBLISHING company, and it was very successful, not unlike Melvin Powers a half century later, he had a diverse publishing empire.

If you have never heard of him, it is worth a few minutes of time to discover his work.

Now, what does Melvin and William have in common? Almost all of their book sales came via Mail Order. WWA used a newsletter, often a FREE first lesson, and many back end sales, and this was during the early part of the 20th century.

Today, I would bet WWA would be big on PLR and Ghost Writers, letting others create the bulk of a work and he just putting his voice (s) into it so as to make it read the same. I'm sure Yogi talked differently than William, and probably a lot different than either Yogi Berra or Yogi Bear (hey boo boo, the ranger left a picnic basket all alone)...

My point is, if you are a person who has TOO many things to want to do, you can focus small amounts of time on many of them, to build a foundation and then a complete publishing empire, and no one ever need know its you doing it.

So sez, Gordon Jay Alexander, er, eh, or maybe??

Always a fun experiment using pen names.

When I was a performer, I used a few different stage names based on the type of shows I did. It helped keep my head straight. It made the postman crazy sometimes. :)
