The inside secrets of the SRDS, it is the ultimate niche finder. Would you want to
 
know exactly how to use it? OR a better question here might be, would you have any interest in marketing a report on how to use it?

I've spent a lot of time in the last couple of weeks with my head buried in the SRDS Books of Lists. The ones that have gotten most of my attention are:

Direct Marketing List Source
TV Cable Source

I think it was Gary Halbert who said he can't open the thing without finding scores of niches just waiting to send him money.

And I agree. In fact, I know this to be true:

The BIG boys, the BIG dogs, THE direct marketing players in the real world...need to have BIG lists to make BIG money.

Now here is the GAP for you to stand in. There are literally THOUSANDS of smaller lists, ones that could be extremely lucrative that the BIG boys just glance right over.

There is gold to be mined from those lists. However, it involves a direct mail piece, so that eliminates about 99.9% of those who have come on line looking for some "opportunity" to make some bucks.

Anyhow, this started a couple of years back...and like MANY (most??) of my projects they get started but not finished...cause I get caught up with other parts of life or slapped down by some new medical challenge...whatever.

I've got a report, probably 80% finished on How to Use the SRDS.

Your opinions? Would this make a good, say, clickbank type, of report.

How to Use the SRDS Direct Marketing List Source to Find HOT Niches Just Waiting to Throw Money at YOU...and All You Have to do is ASK them to....Without Mailing a Single Letter

OR something like that. I may decide to sell it outright like I did with the Chatteling Guide or may do a JV like I did with the HOTSHEETS or may even sell it myself...but do it as a REAL product...that gets sent out.

Do any of YOU use the SRDS resources and do you think there is a market for the HOW TO USE it report?

Hi Jay, the idea sounds great. I haven't gone in this direction for my marketing efforts but I have plans to do so. Good information on this subject would be sought after.

Hey Gordon, Put me down for a copy. i was at their website and got the impression that they were all online and charged 500 a year.

Joe, this depends on their product...here's an example.
 
The older SRDS Book of Direct Marketing List Source, the great big guy you'll find at libraries...

had all the data card info. YES, this they've done away with, sort of. The new slimmed down version only contains what is called the "top line" of the list. Here's an example:

Say I'm looking of lists to send an offer for a new Chatteling Product...and I'd probably select Opportunity types.

And this is just example...maybe I would see Neo Tech Repsonders.

"They inquire by responding to a forty page sales piece before inquiring for more information." Feb 07 46,804

That would be top line info in the Trim-Spa version...and they want you to go ONLINE to get the full data card, and online they have daily updates. So you get the very freshest data available.

Using this example, there could be only 2237 BUYERS of NeoTech info in Feb. 07. Then there could be various "segments" of the list.

IF I wanted to test the responsiveness of the inquiry...probably a Magalog type thing...then I'd have 46000+ to test.

Anyhow, YES, the way to go is ONLINE for most of their products. BUT, with the newer print versions, you can gallop through the different arenas,
where as online, I don't think you'd do as much general browsing.

Some libraries have all SRDS publications, or an assortment. But online or off...

You have know how to interpret the data. I guess that is where I'd realign my report with.

Just thinking out loud here...kind of popped into my head...where would a person go to TEST their product or idea out? I mean, say you have a product, like the Chatteling Concept. And I wanted to have a professional copywriter and a professional marketing company DO IT for me...YIKES, that would cost a small fortune...but is there one that would do a test for a reasonable cost of say, 5 grand?????? I don't know of any.
And WHAT IF, after they tested your product, they offered you JV? WOW. IF you know of anyone doing that, let us all know, OK?

Did you ever put together the report on "How To Use the SRDS to find Hot Mailing Lists to Niches" or something to that effect in the title?

How would you want the information? Would a video work? Since the SRDS is online and in most cases self-explanatory, what questions do you have for it's use?

The OTHER sites that have mailing lists available plus the SRDS can be used to find "Hot" mailing lists to niches.

You look for RECENCY...you want fresh names.
Frequency...in the form of multiple buys.
Dollar Amounts.

You want to match your product to a list that has a similar price point.

I more than likely will do a video on LISTS as part of the update to 7 Steps to Freedom II that is being done. Any suggestions you may have as to content, specific questions would be helpful in scripting out this project.

It is a low priority project, however, if anyone is interested in doing all the work, I'll be glad to assist in selling a report on the SRDS...you do the work and let us both make the money.

Timewise, it could be several months before I do specific report on this...the current economy dictates a FOCUS on anti-recessionary solutions.
