Any tips on promoting my (hopefully) viral video?...

I have a newsworthy (an in the news topic) 1:30 youtube video I want to promote quickly.

It's of the semi-kooky variety. I have a domain name that leads to it (leads to the youtube vid)

I thought...

1) Telling bloggers about it.
2) Adding it as video responses to already popular, related vids.
3) Posting it on various hosting sites (other than youtube).
4) Online press release(s).
5) Offline press release(s) (faxed out manually to n'papers + TV + radio)

Any other ideas?

It's urgent because the topic is the US election -- so I must promote it immediately.

Thanks!

What are the video 'clearing house' type sites (to submit my video to)?...

Aren't there sites like (I can't remember the name exactly) goofyvideos -- or some such? Like the site goofyauctions, only for videos. You submit your video, and if they like it they feature it on their site.

Does anyone have a list of those type of sites?

Thanks!

TW,

Great magic trick.

Only problem is, you've got the facts wrong. (Unless of course your one of the select group that makes hundreds of thousands a year and sneaks by without paying taxes!)

Check out the information on the Tax Policy Center website.

What you don't know, WILL hurt you.

Are you saying I can't find dozens of sites (+ economists) that would dispute the one site you listed? Also, almost 1/2 the country would disagree with you. I'm trying to keep capitalism alive.

Can someone help me figure this out? -- Fast!

Ok -- I hope I'm not breaking any forum rules here.

I need some technical help -- and I need it soon!

If anyone can do it, or tel me who to turn to, it's be GREAT!

I'm gonna try to explain my situation as clearly as I can (I'm not a techie -- sorry)...

Here's what I need: I have a 10-minute video (don't worry, nothing illegal, immoral, or adult involved -- it's just the follow up video to the initial youtube video). I need someone who can help me set up the technical part where it can be set up as DRM.

That's where I can charge someone (all online) to view the video (NOT pay-per-view). They pay me a small fee ($3) via paypal, then they are directed to the site with the video where they can watch it a certain number of times for a certain number of days.

They cannot watch it if they haven't paid -- and after they've paid, they CANNOT just send the link to someone else so another non-paying person can view the video. That's what DRM is (as I understand it).

I need someone who ALREADY knows how to set all this up, and can do it FAST!

I found a site that will provide the infrastructure to do it -- I just DON'T KNOW how to set it up -- it's too techie for me.

Here's the site: Vidlock.com

It should only take less than an hour to do it (I believe) -- how much someone charge for it?

PM me please.

Again, I need someone who can do this FOR SURE -- and SOON!

Let me know.

Thanks a million!

Or should I just do this?...

Or.... should I just forget all the encoding stuff, and just have a (plain old, unprotected) download page I send them to after they pay me, and hope/assume they won't spread the link around so much that it cuts into sales. Assume that the customers + potential customers don't know each other + their paths won't cross.

It'd make it all A LOT easier to set up that way, that's for sure.

What would your advice be?

Thanks.

Yep. do that!

TW,

Go with the unprotected page. Which is to say, a page they are sent to After they have paid you via paypal. That will at least get your going. You can consider doing it another way While this way is up and running.
