of a Street Light that burnt out.

LITERALLY 7 Months later I Get this Email.

Replaced in ONE WEEK.

I have 3 Trash cans collecting Rain water.
I have a Standby Pile of Wood - in Case The Power goes off In Freezing Weather.
I have a Solar Oven.
I Have a Camp Stove that uses Twigs and Grass to cook food.
I Have Drinking Water in Glass Jugs in My Basement
I Got a Battery so I can Plug in My Fridge when the Electricity goes out.

GUESS WHAT?

ALL MY NEIGHBORS Pipes Froze - in 2023 - When The Juice Went off at 1 Degree Ferenheit

GUESS WHAT?

***Sports Car Knocked a Electric Pole over - No Electricity for a week.
***Big Wind Blew 1000's of Trees down. Road Blocked for 7 days. All Electric and phone Lines Down on the Ground for 7 days.

I Flushed my toilets with Rain Water.
Kept my Fridge Cold with my Battery.
Cooked meals when the sun was out - solar oven
Burnt Twigs to heat Soup when it was Cloudy outside.
Drank My Distilled water from Glass Jugs

Some Things You can PREDICT
with 100% accuracy.

Because they are ALREADY Happening to others.

I just think... imagine if things turn bad, and you're the only one in your street with...

- power
- heat (if it's cold)
- clean water to drink
- can cook your food

It could happen - and is not so far-fetched nowadays!

Be prepared! (Boy scout motto...)

Being prepared is not such a bad thing...!

I definitely agree, that this is a smart thing to do nowadays...

We're living in the middle of a hostile world now... I feel we're at the greatest risk of nuclear war ever in my lifetime. But even if it's conventional war... one of the first things they could target is the infrastructure... and they can potentially bring that down with "cyberwar" means, using computer viruses or other "cyber" attacks...

I don't like to think about it too much, but it's good to be ready, just in case... in my view!

Gotta say .... you are well prepared WITHOUT spending a boatload of cash on worthless stuff. I know it has been years of trial and error for you to find out what works... which when you think about it has cost you some dough.

With everything you have done, have you ever wondered how to keep this preparation a secret from nosey neighbors? Maybe where you are at, you don't have neighbors looking in to see how you are doing. Where we live even though the neighbors are nice (Hey, Millard, you've got a loose piece of siding on your house you might want to look at).... How much do they know about what you are doing? :)

My Rain Barrels are visible BUT full of Leaves.

My Rack of Wood Was GIVEN to me by a Neighbor. I spit it up and Stacked it.

My NEIGHBORS are much More Secretive than ME!

One is growing MJ in his Attic (Unless BRIGHT Lights on at 1 am is Something else

#2 - Another Neighbor Couple belong to a Wife SWAP Club.

#3 - Yet another Neighbor guy has Multiple Personality Disorder. Changes from Jeckle to Hyde Based on some kind of FOOD Allergy - All Neighbors Stay away from him.

And The Neighbors GET WORSE from there.

One Neighbor Beats his Wife.

Cops at his house Constantly.

I am Outwardly Boring compared to My Neighbors.

In some areas, you NEED an in-case-of-fire "bug out bag" !

As you may or may not know...

Eucalyptus trees are DESIGNED to burn!

It's all that eucalyptus oil...

And some Australian trees (like Banksias) release their seeds only AFTER a fire! (So they can benefit from some of that fresh fertilizer from the burnt plants and wood!)

Fire is part of the whole ecosystem!

Now... it's not so bad for us in the cities... Where it's dangerous is in the small towns, surrounded by "bush"... or on the city outskirts...

There's a part of my city (Melbourne), on the outskirts... called the Dandenong ranges...

It's an area on the edge of town, which is a little bit "mountainous"... Because of all the hills, there's a LOT of untouched forest...

I was thinking once, it'd be great to live there. It's very scenic... And you're still not far from all the advantages of a city...

I actually know people who live in that area...

And what I DIDN'T factor in, was that virtually every year, they have to EVACUATE because of the danger of bush fires!

So, everyone who lives there has a "bug out bag" they can pick up and flee with at short notice, especially during the summer months (when a bush fire is more likely)!

That kind of makes it a little less desirable... :)
