Would you pay $3,333.33 for a banana split ice cream sundae?

I like to "keep tabs" on various new marketing and publicity ideas being implemented by small businesses. Here's one of them...

One ice cream store in Napa, California, sells a "whopper" of a banana split... It will set you back $3,333.33 if you want to try it! They say it's the world's most expensive sundae...

Why is it so pricey?

The ice-cream and banana are organic - but that doesn't account for the crazy price tag.

The expense is because the banana split is topped with three rare (and very expensive) dessert wines...

It also comes with a cellist, who will play for you while you eat your sundae... (Maybe a sad song, to mourn your shrinking bank account...)

Of course, this is really a "publicity gimmick"... it's an interesting idea for the business to get into the newspapers and other media! But if it brings more customers in the door due to the publicity, more power to them! :)

You can read more about it here...

Heheh - that's a good one!

I'd better jump on that deal before it sells out! ;)

P.S. Before you eat your $3,333.33 ice cream sundae, you might want to first tuck in to a $666 hamburger, from New York City food truck "666 Burger"....

According to an article... "The charmingly-named 'Douche Burger' contains caviar, lobster and truffles on top of a foie-stuffed, gold-leaf-wrapped, Kobe beef patty finished off with BBQ sauce made using Kopi Luwak coffee that's passed through the digestive tract of the Asian palm civet."

The business itself says about its burger, "[It] may not taste good, but [it] will make you feel rich." ;)

Mini vs. Porsche - which car would win a race?

I love this stuff...

Of course, there is always someone coming out with the most expensive "this" or the largest or smallest "that" in the world...

It's all for the free publicity. Personally, I love publicity "gimmicks"!

It's also one of the "pillars" on which Richard Branson built his multi-billion dollar wealth... Almost everything "newsworthy" he's done in his life has been part of getting free publicity - and effectively, free advertising...

I actually keep a file on publicity "gimmicks" I come across, that I can easily "delve into" when I want examples...

For example, here's one I just dug out of my "archives" this moment, which I've never written about anywhere (until now), from 2010...

Mini (the car manufacturer) challenging Porsche to a race!

What a great idea! I bet the race never happened... But it still got Mini some great free publicity!
