Sandwich Board Makeover

Been a lurker in this forum for a long time, figured I need to contribute something...

Found a great article on copywriting for a local small business that I think folks here would like.

http://kopywritingkourse.com/street-...ng-experiment/

I of course added a comment there of something I had learned on this forum.... the peep hole technique.

How can you create a "Shoe Hospital Makeover" for a business in your area?

Very good thanks.

I do visit and appreciate his site.

One take away for some of our readers is, the "course" on creating a very nice looking sandwich board ad.

At 130 bux, using Kinkos/Fed Ex, you could have a beautiful sign in half a day.

Thanks for posting and for lurking, we appreciate both.

Gordon

That's funny (odd, ironic, strange to me) when he says "Learn to Write like you Speak"...

I speak all the time as a minister... and i type everything out first in order to say it... but I guess I've been doing it long enough that I type like I want to sound!

(Or think it should sound...)

Where is THE REST of The Sandwich Board Make-over Story?

Hi,

Gary Halbert Once left some sage advice on my Voice Mail.

Gary yelled at me and said, "Your Phone Message SUCKS. Listen to your Damn
voice mail. It's so FRACKED Up it's costing you munny. Call me back. Gary Halbert"

Gary might give this sandwich Board Makeover
the same Gentle Reminder...

"The only Test that counts is when Prospects VOTE with their Munny!"

Thus my question is...

Does the UGLY - Shoe Hospital Sign PULL In More Business

than

The PRETTY Colorful Sign?

I'd really like to know.

Thanks,
Glenn

P.S. - Where is this Shoe Repair shop exactly? We can google the place
and call up and ASK the owner.

sign up for his newsletter and find out if it pulls in more business. I get it so if you don't want to, I'll let you know when he tells us. how about that for barter? I give you your answer for nothing in return. That's better than 90% off...

Thanks Sandalwood,

From what I read - he is DONE.

But sure.

If there is MORE to the story.

Post it here so we know what happens.

I personally would KEEP the black letters on a white
or Neon Yellow Background.

The sandwich board signs are too small for color pics of shoes.

I have Experience with roadside
Signs - selling vegetables and Fruit by the road.

One or two BIG WORDS are all passing
drivers can see.

Crowds on the sidewalk are similar.

In the last NL I received he said the board increased traffic but didn't give any numbers. I believed it would increase traffic so I was biased from the get go. I also didn't care about numbers not given since I think the days of shined shoes are long past. Could be wrong about that. That might be a question to pose to your legion of followers. I think we'd get a good answer from that group. And, who knows, a shoe shining kiosk business may pop up. Hell if we are sending potatoes with messages on them why not shoe shine kiosks, right?

Keep smiling...

Thanks for Confirming My ESP Suspicions

Thanks Sandalwood,

IF the new signs had made a Clear And Measurable difference
I would have Bragged about it to my list.

Since He Didn't say much.

The color Before and After Shoe Pics on the Sandwich boards
didn't HELP MUCH.

In my experience You can Often
TWEAK what is ALREADY Working
and get better Munny in the door than making a BIG CHANGE.

In the comments below the piece, he states (from Nov. 3), that the store received a 50 percent increase in walk-ins, which means they went from 8 to 12 per day.

As far as the design and the photos on the sign, I think the point is they are trying to capture the foot traffic (is 800 people per day a high-foot traffic location?), and not the passing cars.

I'm thinking I'd like to see them try one of those animated mannequins holding a sign ... or better yet ... a pair of shoes.
