Will the dike break and wash away many Universities?

U of Akron to close 6 of 11 colleges. Kent State meets tomorrow.

If this crisis continues it may wipe out half the liberal arts Universities in America. OH< Ivy league will be just fine, rich folk will see to that, have to keep those secret societies rockin on.

What will pick up, and an OPPORTUNITY for us all...more targeted, job or career of business schools, more of the HOW to and less of the philosophy, how are the schools in your area doing?

Keep in mind, not quite 2 months. Shows the fragility of many of our systems.

It is the big reason why lives won't matter, 100,000, 200,000 so what when millions can get back to their "normal". "let em die", the white house cry...
we got work to do,
money to make
beer to buy
golf to play.

But, things are on the upswing, eh?

Hi Gordon,

I meant to reply to this earlier, but got sick! (Not Covid-19, thankfully, I'm pretty sure... but I caught something, headaches, feeling chills... Got rid of it in a few days, thankfully...)

I think the "writing has been on the wall" for a lot of universities and colleges for a while now...

The reason is because of online learning.

With online learning, the Ivy League universities can take on a lot more students if they want to... In fact, it's unlimited...

People might feel it's better to get an ONLINE degree from an Ivy League school, than an IN-PERSON degree from a lesser-known college...

So... I think the danger has been there for a while.

In fact, some are even predicting that attending classes in person will be a thing of the past...

I think it's unlikely to disappear.

I'm not sure I'd want my brain surgeon to have learned brain surgery just from online videos!

I want him or her to have cut up a few human cadavers under in-person supervision for practice, thanks...

I think it's hard to replace any course that requires labs (like many science and engineering courses) with online-only classes...

Is it a good idea to have chemistry students handle deadly sulfuric acid in their kitchens, maybe with kids running around?

I think not!

But... there's a lot that could go online-only...

Second... I agree, this is an OPPORTUNITY as well...

To provide online instruction...

That's more PRACTICAL... and more applicable to REAL LIFE...

Just my 2 cents...
