What angle would you take on this...?

Based on the information and recommendations by Phil, I have been doing research on the idea of generating online leads for offline small businesses, by using offline and online advertising methods.

What would be the best way to track and sell these leads to businesses?

1) Create coupons that visitors could print and try to track them.

2) Just do a monthly subscription amount and the business gets as much business as possible.

I like the idea of using coupons the best, as the business pays for exactly what they get, and I can track exactly what they are getting. But tracking those leads seems to be a challange using online lead generation methods.

Any solutions to this?

Phil,

Thanks for the links.

I agree there is great potential for selling leads to local business that are generated online. I'm surprised more people aren't jumping on this.

But, I am still wondering how to actually track if a potential customer takes a coupon, and uses it to purchase an item from the business. Unless it's not something I should be concerned about and just have the business pay for any clicks generated on my sites?

Any ideas anyone could share would be great.

1) Go to your County CourtHouse...to the Assessor's Office and ask if they have a LIST of people who have purchased Homes. (If their office doesn't have this "Public" list, some office does)

2) Send a Letter to "6" businesses in each Category in your local Yellow Pages....saying the following;

"Greetings...I can provide you with a List of "New Home Buyers" each and every month. These people are not familiar with your product or service. They "have money and are looking to spend it to help them get settled into their new home"!
I am offering an EXCLUSIVE to ONE business in each Category with a List of these New Home Buyers, each month.
This note is being sent to you and 5 of your competitors.
Call me if you'd like more information."

3) When the calls come in (and they WILL come in)...tell them you charge $75 a month (with a 6 month Trial in advance) to be the ONLY one in their Category to receive the List.

This has worked for me and could work for you too. Charge what you want but I've found that $75/mo is good for "starters". You can raise your fees after you've got a few participants.

Put a "cgi Form" on your page where, when they click on the Coupon they are interested in...a Box comes up where they have to "sign in" their Name and Email addy...then...when they hit "submit" the Coupon comes up which they can print out.

Tony,

I guess I misunderstood your first question on Tracking...

Try Re-Listening a few times to the Perry Marshall interview I'm re-posting...

I believe Perry shares a Great idea about a friend who's marketing “$20,000. Boats” through Leads with a nice “twist”... :)

He uses the Photos of Sales reps with Creative coupons to tie in Tracking results...

Seriously consider Big Ticket items and Services.... Using the Finder Fee/Affilate business model...

Concentrate on Very Focused keyword phrases... One Specialty product, service, industry at a time...
https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal

There are many other Creative ways to Tie in the type of Tracking that you're looking for...

Online PDF Hotsheets... Online Greeting cards with Free encoded Coupon messages etc. etc. to bring into retailers... All done through simple Landing pages with Opt-in email...

Develop something Unique with those businesses Giving Customer's a Trackable reason to Visit and Prove that they're a Great Lead...

What's interesting about this idea as Perry explains from what I can remember, is that eventually the Lead business Converts many into the business of Full time Marketing...

The Big Question... Would you rather sell 100 Leads for... Or Work and Develop the Leads into your own Sales & Marketing company...

Maybe a smaller version of Harvey Brody and Ben Suarez...

As Gordon and a few others have mentioned on SowPubs...
"look for products fully developed and under marketed". That's one of the KEY Toll Position strategies Mr. Brody advocates...

More people Aren't jumping on this Lead business idea for the same reasons that most people just Don't Try and Start the other 31,000,000 business ideas according to Google...

They just purchase the info... Thanks to all those business idea Collectors and Smart Marketers... ;)

Here you go... (both formats if one doesn't work)
