Some potential advertisers / sponsors...
Quote:
Of course, it depends on the precise type of booklet... If you're thinking specifically of a booklet to give to someone who has lost a loved one, then some possible advertisers/sponsors could be... - funeral organization services - eulogy writing services - memorial service organizers - musicians (for the funeral service or a memorial service) - caterers (for the funeral service or a memorial service) - bereavement counseling - headstone engraving services / stonemasons - grave site maintenance services - legal services (as they may need legal advice, such as in relation to the administration of the estate, in relation to the interpretation of the will, in the case of distribution due to intestacy, or to challenge the will or the intestacy distribution) - financial planners (e.g. if there is an inheritance to be managed) - tax consultants (e.g. there may be taxes to be paid in relation to the deceased estate) - estate administration services (to help administer the deceased estate) - remembrance products (i.e. products created to help remember the deceased) Those are some ideas... All of these are helpful services to the survivor of the deceased, so I think they are all "tasteful" (as long as it's done in the right way)... Best wishes, Dien |
Re: Some potential advertisers / sponsors... Very helpful

Thank you, very helpful. Remembrance? Like a scrapbook with pictures and other memorabilia is one that comes to mind. That one issue going to the immidediate family could be all original stuff and then it could be converted either to a photo copy book to give to people attending the Memorial. Could also make a downloadable pdf for people out of state? Video slideshow is another. Eva |
How to digitally remember those who have passed...
Quote:
Yes, a memorial scrapbook is one such business. There are people who will create professional custom-made scrapbooks for their customers... A couple of others that spring to mind are a kind of digital "scrapbook" which can be put on CD, DVD, or on a memory stick/USB drive. The good thing about these is they can also contain audio and video. Another one is a memorial website, where people create a website, full of pictures, words, and possibly audio and video, dedicated to the memory of the one who passed away... https://www.google.com/search?q=memorial+website Here's a very lengthy article about your "digital estate" from the New York Times, from last year... There is a business opportunity in "preserving" these, so that these don't disappear into the ether after someone dies... Quote:
Of course, this is a business opportunity in itself (as are several other things on that earlier list)... Though it's a good strategy to focus on one opportunity, and not get too diverted (unless it's not working out)... :) Best wishes, Dien |
I dabbled in this market but...
A few years ago I entered this market.
I had to attend the funeral for the father of one of my daughter's friends. They handed out the traditional bookmark and a printed sheet of paper.....I wasn't overly impressed. I spent that weekend creating some background graphics and put together a tastefully done and attractive booklet designed to replace the traditional memorial handouts. It was well accepted by the local area. I abandoned the project after a few weeks....because of the nature of the business everything had to be done "Just-in-time" and it required personal contact with very distraught emotional people...only 1 or 2 days to gather the info from them and then get the info edited and formatted, obtain pictures and scan them, etc., and printed, and back to the funeral home in time for the viewings and funeral. While the money involved was decent...the hectic involvement for me wasn't where I wanted to be. Then last summer as it was apparent that my mother was starting to fail at 98 years old I put together a memorial site (including purchasing the domain) ready for when the time came...and it did in the fall...and I uploaded the site to the internet. It was very well received by family and friends and I have been toying with using the concept for a business but was struggling with an effective way to market it...now with this thread about booklets it has spawned some new ideas for marketing.....have to see where it goes. |
