New question re recent thread.

Hi All,

On a recent thread, there was a short discussion about "coupon books", in which Don Alm mentioned the Employee Discount Cards. This topic interests me, but am wondering: on a card "the size of a credit card", how is it possible to get 12 ads, all with the offer, name, address and phone # of the biz, all on one side of the card and still have it readable without the use of a magnifier? Also, since this is a plastic card which can't be hole punched, how is the advertiser assured the card holder doesn't use it a second time. Any insight you can offer would be appreciated. Thanks, Joyce

Re: New question re recent thread.

Joyce,

I'm looking at one right now. Exactly credit card sized. Yellow color, black ink hard plastic. It was a fundraiser for a local high school band. Has 3 ads on the front and 15 ads (3 across, 5 down) on the back. And yes, the ads are way too small for my eyes without reading glasses. Ads are all different. Some have address/phone info and some do not. There's an ad for Arby's that just
shows their logo and says: 10% off at all (city) locations.

The card sold for $10 and has a box on the bottom of the front for a signature where it says, "offers good for signee only". I can tell you that the advertisers didn't care if it was signed or not. They honored it. At least the ones I used the card with.

The other thing is, the offers weren't very good (as Don talks about in the 2 for 1 thread below). So, they didn't really care who used the card or how often. They made good money on every card using customer.

You'll find more discussion of this program going on right now, along with a layout done by one of the members at:

It is being suggested that stores mark out their ad with a Sharpie once the card has been presented for redemption. (If coated in plastic)
