"Trends Shaping the Digital Economy"

Here's another site with trends.... This time, it's about "Trends Shaping the Digital Economy." I've linked to it below....

One of the trends I found interesting was "Education Anytime, Anywhere"....

I agree that education could be revolutionized by the internet, and we've only seen the very beginning of what's to come....

Here's a way new forms of education online could be implemented....

Here's one way in which education online could be revolutionized....

Want to improve your negotation skills?

Try these Flash simulations of negotiation situations....

From asking for a pay rise, to negotiating with a suicide bomber....

Please let me know what you think. :)

"Without a revenue model that works...." ???

Hi!

Great site, Dien! I was surprised to see the statement I used as my Subject in the article about the value of information.

Without a revenue model that works...????!!! They don't know what the people who are making the money are doing, amazingly enough.

Best,

- Boyd

That was a fabulous resource Dien. How did you happen upon it?

I LOVE interactive learning. I tried the suicide bomber one, but I got blown to bits.

THANK YOU!

Simulations as an educational and marketing tool....

Hi Duane,

I'm glad you liked it.... I found this site a while ago, and found them very addictive! Flash files are becoming more and more common, and I found them while checking out what was happening in this field....

It's interesting, since these simulations are both an educational and also a marketing tool....

You'll see that these Flash simulations are provided by a company which gives workshops on negotiation and mediation skills..... (See the buttons on the left of the web site.)

I wonder if this type of promotion will catch on? I think they are designed to capitalize on word-of-mouth marketing, as people tell their friends (like I have mentioned it here to you)....

I think it's interesting to see that Flash can be used for much more than pretty graphics, which is all that most companies seem to use it for. It has much more potential than that....

And there's the "All Your Base" fad I mentioned earlier, which also took off once a Flash file was made....

Steven Birch, who designed the Sowpub logo (under Gordon's direction), has designed a couple original designs to capitalize on the "All Your Base" fad (along with a general interest in UFOs)....

You can click below to see them.... :)

(This is a site in progress.... Not all the stores we link to are ours, only the one with the alien head and the DNA strand is ours....)

Information wants to be free!

But not any more....

Boyd, I'm glad you liked the site.... Did you try the negotiation simulations too? I warn you, they are addictive... :) But they are also educational!

About "without a revenue model which works" for information distribution, I agree with you, there are clearly profitable examples, which I agree will be the way of the future.... I think there will still be free information, but it will probably be more limited than it has been in the past, and be used more as a promotional tool for the information you pay for....

For example, I remember with Ken Evoy's "Make Your Site Sell" ebook, he gave you a couple chapters for free (if I remember correctly). I suspect that giving part of the ebook away for free will probably become more common....

Another example would be www.stratfor.com, which gives you a free report every day on "global intelligence" topics, but if you want more of the same, you have to pay for it....

Educational and Entertaining are 2 powerful concepts when put together.

Word of Mouth is probably the best "Viral Marketintg technique"

The applications for this technology will be rapidly expanding. It is used here extensively to showcase VIRTUAL TOURS of restaurants in our area. You have a look at the ambiance before you actually dine there.
