Self-directing teams are empowered to make decisions about planning, implementing and evaluating their work. The question is, do they have a leader from outside? If yes, what is the importance of the leader to the teams?

> Great question! In an organization the leader supplies the direction and the resources for the team. An old TV commercial by United Airways shows the Sales Manager passing out tickets (resources) while giving instructions and explaining why (direction and guidance)to his sales staff. Expectations? Go out on your own re-establish relationships and the sales will come.
