Comfort Zone
I found this on the net, and wanted to share it with everyone.... - Dien
Comfort Zone (Author Unknown) I use to have a Comfort Zone Where I knew I couldn't fail The same four walls of busy work Were really more like jail. I longed so much to do the things I'd never done before, But I stayed inside my Comfort Zone And paced the same old floor I said it didn't matter, That I wasn't doing much I said I didn't care for things Like diamonds, furs and such I claimed to be so busy With the things inside my zone, But deep inside I longed for Something special of my own. I couldn't let my life go by, Just watching others win. I held my breath and stepped outside And let the change begin. I took a step and with new strength I'd never felt before, I kissed my Comfort Zone "goodbye" And closed and locked the door. If you are in a Comfort Zone, Afraid to venture out, Remember that all winners were At one time filled with doubt. A step or two and words of praise, Can make your dreams come true. Greet your future with a smile, Success is there for you! |
Re: Comfort Zone
I want to thank you, Dien, for posting this poem.
I have such a hard time stepping out of my comfort zone. I am new to network marketing and I know staying where I am will keep me where I am. Afraid...of taking the risk. It is hard to change. I have trouble following up...yet I know it's pertinent. It's good to know I am not alone in my fear! I guess the fear stems from not feeling I am good enough...a self esteem issue! Any advice you can give on how to step out of your comfort zone would be very much appreciated. Warm regards, Jill Thoreson [email protected] The Millenium Group |
Stepping out of that Comfort Zone into the New Era of your life!
Hi Jill,
Thanks for your kind words.... :) I think one of the more difficult things to do is to be different, however, often those who are most successful are those who dare to stand out from the crowd.... This is part of stepping out of your comfort zone, daring to be different and to be noticed! For example, many people have remarked how Sowpub has quite a different "feel" from other marketing forums.... If everyone zigs, you zag, and it's one way to stand out from the crowd. Although we're a little marketing "community" here, we're quite different from the rest of the marketing crowd.... :) I think another thing which may be good is to take things a little step at a time. You don't have to make drastic changes to begin with, but try one little thing, see how it works, and keep going.... If you try stepping out of your comfort zone step by step, I think it's much easier.... You don't have to leap out all at once, just one step at a time. As the saying goes, a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step! So for example if you have trouble following up, Jill, maybe you could try it with something little. I don't know precisely what you're marketing, but maybe a little note in the mail (or email if that's relevant), something small, and build from there.... :) I think the most truly successful people are those who find what they do to be a joy.... I think that's partly what helps them to do so well, when they enjoy what they do, relish what they do, when they LOVE what they do, then they "work" at it much more (since to them, it's no longer "work"!). So somehow, find the joy in what you're doing in connecting with people and in providing them with a good product or service (I think it's important to believe in what you're promoting).... Jill, I hope that helps in some way.... I know that you're on your way to success! :) - Dien |
Thank you Dien and Jill
Thank you Jill for bringing up the topic of stepping out of the box and Dien for the words of wisdom.
It is nice to know that others here are in the same boat as I am. At the age of 33 I am a father of 7 and still working a full time job. I have sold a few eShowcase sites and a couple of cd business card packages but have done so over a time period of a year and a half. Many people ask why I still work a full time job. I respond with things like "insurance is too high for self employeed with a family my size" or some other "excuse". I guess it is just because it is just too easy to work the day job (comfort zone). I have taken the steps to independence, though they are baby steps. Time to turn those "steps" into "strides". Thanks again. Dennis |
Re: Stepping out of that Comfort Zone into the New Era of your life!
Dien,
Thanks so much for the advice. And believe me when I say I listened. Last week,I made a call (my first solo call, actually) to a woman interested in learning about my business. At the end of the presentation she was not on the line. I assumed she hung up. After all, that's what my upline said would probably happen. I stepped out of my comfort zone yesterday and emailed her. I said I had assumed she hung up and told her I was new and to please write back and tell me what exactly she didn't like, so I could improve my communication with people. I also mentioned that she must love cats (based on her email address @catlovers). I love cats too. SHE WROTE BACK LAST NIGHT! She said we got cutoff and is still interested in the business. She proceeded to tell me about her love of cats! It was great. I had such an awakening. It is all about relationships and trust. Even if she decides this is not the right timing for her to start a home business, we have developed a relationship! That is truly doing what I love. I can feel the passion even as I write this. As for Sowpub, I am very grateful it isn't like the other forums. It is what marketing is truly about. Learning about yourself, and becoming better. Thanks so much, Dien! Warm regards, Jill http://got.to/mg2000 |
Congratulations Jill!
Hi Jill,
That's great news! Congratulations, it sounds like things have gone well.... :) Thank you Jill for sharing your experience, I know this will be something that you will remember forever.... And I believe it will be part of the key to your big success! > As for Sowpub, I am very grateful it isn't > like the other forums. It is what marketing > is truly about. Learning about yourself, and > becoming better. Thanks Jill.... :) I've been a life-long student of success in general, and I apply what I've learned to my own life. I believe you can do almost anything if you really put your heart and soul into it, and if you give it enough time (things don't always happen instantaneously, but they WILL happen).... I'm glad I could share something of value with you.... :) - Dien |
Re: Comfort Zone
Thanks Dien,
This poem was so inspiring for me, that I have printed and put it up on my wall.
