New phenomenon... fake reality TV by ordinary people!
I've found what seems to be a new "trend"...
Fake reality TV - created by "ordinary" folks! I first came across this when I saw a "bail bond agent" / "bounty hunter" channel online... It was about a guy who has to bring in people who have violated their bail conditions... The star is a guy who goes by the name Patty Mayo... I was fascinated! Definitely thrilling stuff... Reality TV at its best! Until... I found other videos, now instead of the usual "Bail Enforcement Agent" he had on his jacket... It now had "Sheriff"...! A "Bail Enforcement Agent" and a "Sheriff" are two completely different things... You don't go from being a "Bail Enforcement Agent" (who is not a police officer) to being a "Sheriff" (who IS a very senior police officer) in the blink of an eye! So... I did some searching... And I found out... Patty Mayo's videos are all an act. He hires actors to play the people he is going after... He is not a police officer or a bail bond agent, nor are any of the other "agents" in his videos! They're all in a "reality TV" style... So you think it's real! And... he's very popular! (Over 10 million subscribers on YouTube...) Then, I came across another one... "The Rideshare Hub"... It's about an Uber driver who has a camera in his car, filming his passengers. A lot of his passengers try to cheat him one way or another... Sometimes a pretty female passenger doesn't want to pay with cash... but wants to pay by performing other "favors"... I was watching and thought, this guy gets a lot of really sketchy passengers! Then... I noticed the same passenger from a previous video entered the car in a new video... She had on different clothing, but it was definitely the same person... And she tried the same scam! I thought... If she tried to scam him before, why would he pick her up as a passenger again? Then... I found this repeated in his videos... Many "passengers" are in multiple videos, wearing different outfits... It is clear... They're also all hired actors! Another "fake reality TV" channel... That's very popular! I just thought I'd point out this fascinating phenomenon! Patty Mayo videos Over 10 million subscribers on YouTube! https://www.youtube.com/@PattymayoTv This TikTok channel may be unofficial... https://www.tiktok.com/@copstv1show6 The Rideshare Hub Over 230k subscribers on TikTok - pretty much exclusively "fake reality TV" videos... The TikTok channel is only about a month old... https://www.tiktok.com/@ridesharehub Over 280k subscribers on YouTube - this has more than just the "fake reality TV" videos, but I've linked to the "shorts" with generally "fake reality TV" videos... https://www.youtube.com/@TheRideshareHub/shorts Same passenger, two different videos (and outfits, and hair styles)... https://www.tiktok.com/@ridesharehub...57363546197291 https://www.tiktok.com/@ridesharehub...59534821625130 Here's Patty Mayo talking about how it's a production, and that he's not a real officer... https://youtu.be/KjIdKTX7PuA?t=225 Best wishes! SowPubber questions....
Ah Ha. We hire some actors. Have them post and we answer their questions...on a YouTube channel...only thing is, all the actors are AI. See?
Brilliant ideas breed, well, this sort of thing. gja Quote:

Rubbing my "old fogey" eyes to view with "fresh eyes"...

I have no doubt this will happen... And could already be happening! This whole AI thing is not always easy to wrap your head around... Especially when you're a "veteran" in business and marketing already...! I take inspiration from Nobel Prize-winning physicist Richard Feynman... As you know, I have a "previous life" as a theoretical physicist. (You can look up my papers on Google Scholar...) Most physicists - as they get older - stop putting out "ground breaking" research... But that didn't happen to Richard Feynman... In his later years, he was one of the pioneers and instigators of the whole field of quantum computing! In 1982, at age 64, he published a paper, "Simulating Physics with Computers" - which is one of the foundational papers that launched the whole field of quantum computing! So, sometimes I imagine... If I was 18 years old again, how would I approach this? Definitely my approach would be a little different than my natural current ways... I'd see it with fresh - even "naive" - eyes... Which can sometimes be the right approach to gain new insights! Just thought I'd share that... :) Best wishes, Dien |
