One Simple YouTube Setting That Boosted My Productivity

Making YouTube less distracting was one of the best decisions I made this year.

By turning off “Recommendations” and sticking to only content I need, YouTube is now more of a research tool rather than a time-waster.

(Deleting the Reddit app from my phone has also helped, but that’s a story for another day…)

I’m also trying a “No YouTube Day” once a week to focus more on reading. Still working on this (old habits die hard, right?), but the benefits are already showing.

Sure, not gonna argue with the stats. Video content is on the rise. No doubt about that. But when it comes to helping my thinking process see logical steps forward, I still prefer written content any day.

How do you manage your social media distractions? Please let’s share tips — what’s your secret to staying productive?

One other YouTube tip is to use the Brave browser to watch.

Until YouTube start glueing in the adverts (which they're rumoured to be doing soon) it plays the videos without ads.

Thanks for the tip. Will try it tomorrow...

...After all, today is my no YouTube day!

But glueing in ads?

That alone sounds evil to me.

Whatever happened to freedom of choice?

Freedom of choice when they're owned by Google?!

Seth Rogan noticed DuckDuckgo is like Google Now

Thanks for the Brave.com Suggestion!
MONEY
MONEY
MONEY.

Seth Rogan mentioned Specific things in the News cannot be found.

Politics
Health
Credit cards VS Cash
Fashion
Education
(Hidden Cause of School shooting seems to be all these kids are on Anti-Depressants. You Won't see THAT in the News.)

You can no longer FIND FACTUAL info on the Major Search engines.

But which POP right up to the Top on Brave.com

Social Scientist then BOGGLED MY Mind.

Has proof from 15,000 Anonymous Families
that what We SEE on search engines is being
BENT to Persuade to Certain Directions.

I watch India and BBC news
to find out what is Happening in The USA.

The USA has become a SCIENCE FICTION Book.

Like a virtual "Farhenheit 451"
where all books are burned.

Except the burning is HIDDEN.

Thanks,
Glenn

But shouldn't Brendan Eich & the Brave team send Gordon & Dien some coins?

Probably may not have heard of - and downloaded - Brave if not for SOWPub

Looking good so far...

Thanks for the recommendation, trevord92
