Tragedy's Effect upon Net Marketplace?

Requesting board users views upon the effects of the tragedy upon the internet information marketplace. Before situation/After? Will sites still have as much traffic? Will customers order as frequently? Will site visitors think that these markets are still as important for their personal success? Just seeking your comments. Wishing everyone peace, respect and blessings. Donnie Dixon

Nobody knows.

There are too many factors to make a good assessment. However, if the economy goes into recession, it's a pretty good bet that people will be more interested in free stuff than in pricey bizops. I suspect they'll also be more likely to buy locally, reducing credit card debt.

If we do have a recession, we're likely to see more scam "Bizops." There are some greedy people who will take the innocent and desperate and give them poor quality information.

But we really don't know. Too many factors.

How this is affecting consumer behavior....

I don't expect much difference in overall traffic.... I think people will still surf the net. Though it's possible certain sites will get more traffic than they did before.

If you go to http://50.lycos.com/ you can see the kind of phrases people have been looking for in the short time since the attacks occurred.

I think that there will be some changes in what people will want in general....

People have been flocking to buy flags....

I think people are feeling less safe, so probably sales of personal security related items might increase....

I also think that fewer people will want to fly planes, at least for a while. This could affect the kinds of vacations people will be taking, with more people taking vacations to places they can drive to or get to without flying.... So "local" holiday destinations may find greater popularity.

Books about Nostradamus, the World Trade Center, and about terrorism are currently selling the most books. Have a look at the Amazon.com 100 to see what books have been selling the most for the last 24 hours....

I think there probably will be a long-term shift in consumer behavior in some of these things....
