Great board!

I was reading the Opinion Page of the Wall Street Journal. Peggy Nonan is one of my favorite people.
She says that with the event of September 11th, we have a new appreciation for brawn. Firefighters, policemen and construction workers have all received a new respect. I say bravo.

My question is: How will this change of attitude with a renewed appreciation for the more macho man change our approach to everyday business? Will women be treated any differently? Any thoughts? Could this mean that the sensitive guys who can't operate power tools, or figure out how to put up a bathroom shelf will have to take courses in becoming Manly-Men? Is there a business opportunity here? **wink**

Thank you for introducing me to Peggy Noonan's article. It was indeed engaging and inciteful. I had not given much thought to the whole "brawny" thing until now....but I am a women who never stopped appreciating it! Your line here is critical though:

****I am pointing to your use of the word "Respect". I am guessing the average person did not give much thought to the work of folks in these professions (yes professions!) until now.

***There is a business opportunity in EVERYTHING!!

My thought is this: going back to your word Respect, and in Peggy Noonan's article where she comments on the Manly-Men and Gentlemen....they all have that underlying character trait of respect. Hopefully since the tragedy of September 11, we will all respect and value each other a little more as we come together to rebuild our nation, our cities, our world.
