Where's Gordon - Started...

A discussion or thread that was very interesting but I can't find it. It was about his research on classified ads, and what has been done over the last 50 or even 100 years. I can't remember if he was going to turn this information into a product, but if anyone remembers the post I am talking about please let me know.

I wrote Gordon about this and he was kind enough to respond but I confused him and he thought I was talking about doing classifieds as in starting your own small newspaper.

Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thanks

What is the product Gordon refers to that has been selling for over 100 years?

Hi Dien,

He mentions a product that has beenselling for over 100 years. What is it?

If there is a sure thing in mail order, this must be it.

Can I email him and ask?

Joseph, here is your answer....

Here's a quote from Gordon....

"The PRODUCT that has been sold for over 135+ years...and has continued to sell in good times, bad times, war and peace is...drum roll please.

Is EDUCATION. Via Mail Order, it was done via the Correspondence Course, and for the marketing history buffs in the crowd, it MADE Robert Collier rich and famous, his best selling book, Secret of the Ages was originally a COURSE.

Yes, courses of instruction, have sold for over 150 years.

They laughed when I pulled out my harmonica, but after one chorus of Swanny River, they were rolling on the floor...

Little did I realize I had the course notes upside down...he he..

ICS and it's many incarnations and affiliates have been selling courses of instruction for 100+ years and their ads have changed little."

Nowadays, there are also other alternatives.... Courses via the internet. Courses on CD-ROM. Soon, we'll start seeing courses on DVD. The variety is staggering. :)

Education will keep selling. We are hungry for more information and skills (and that's a good thing!). That ain't gonna change. :)
