Is this Email about a Virus True?
Hello,
I just received the following email about a virus. Please read it and let me know if you believe this email is true. And, if it is, do I follow the instructions exactly as stated? Actually, I'm concerned that just following the instructions may open and spread a virus, or wreak havoc on my computer. Thanks you in advance, Diane Everroad --------- I just received a message today form one of my friends in my Address Book. Here Address Book had been infected by a virus and it was passed on to my computer. My Address Book, in turn, has been infected. the virus (called jdbgmgr.exe) is not detected by Norton or McAfee anit-virus systems. The virus sits quietly for 14 days before damaging the system. It's sent automatically by the messenger and by the address Book, whether or not you sent emails to your contacts. I have checked, found it, and deleted it. Here's how to check for the virus and how to get rid of it: Do This: 1. Go to Start; Find or search option. 2. In the files/folder option, write the name jdbgmgr.exe 3. Be sure you search your C: drive 4. Click "find now" 5. The virus has a teddy bear icon with the name jdbgmgr.exe DO NOT OPEN IT 6. Right click and delete it. It will then go to the Recycle Bin 7. Go to the Recycle Bin and delete it there as well. It Works! ![]() |

Information on this Hoax... by Steve MacLellan
Hello Marye,
Steve MacLellan has just posted the following message on his website. JDBGMGR.EXE is a standard windows component that is found in every windows installation, it is used as a Java debugger manager in Microsoft Java runtime engine. By deleting it some Java programs will not operate the way they should. F-Secure, a leading anti-virus software manufacturer, has posted an article about this hoax. I believe Steve's post might help others, like me, who had not heard about this hoax. Thanks again Marye. Cordially, Diane Everroad It Works! ![]() |
