Shakespeare..."Blitzing"...Skepticism...Momentum
if you don't have a
> local Shakespear group, then start one, > you'll find plenty of people who will join > you . > **** Gordon-- Thanks for responding. I enjoy your thoughts immensely. As for the Shakespeare group, I have NO MONEY. I have no health insurance. I recently moved in with a relative. I work at a coffee shop because I have no car. Is it workable that I start a Shakespearean company right now? No, I don't believe so. This is what I would do WHEN I am making a living. (I'm not even making a living right now...and as Jim Straw likes to say, (paraphrasing here), "Before you set out to get rich, first set out to make a living".) > Write. DEDICATE 15 minutes a day to having > FUN, you deserve that much fun in a > day...and again, sharing that with others of > a similar interest would be good for you > too. **** Yes, this is doable. But my ADD keeps me from 15 minutes a day of anything. I'm more of a 3-days max out blitz kind of person, and then spend the next 3 days max out blitzing something else. > Reading, reading, and more reading. When I > go to a bookstore, I'm in heaven. > **** > READ MAN, READ! **** Well, of course I read...but if I spent too much time reading instead of chatteling, how am I going to be able to afford to have the time to read? > To make that consistently, you'll need to > be at about a 7500 dollar transaction > level...that is, you buy for 5 grand and > sell for 7500...and there is a glut of > chattel in that price range. I certainly hope so. Or even several smaller transactions "blitzed" together over a 4-week period...then a 4-week period of less intensity. You may have to > "climb the ladder" but if you > build Networks and search for DOLLARS not > things, you'll start to see how this can be > done ... > **** Again, I'm starting to believe this. The ladder is under construction. > Why NOT? What will it take to Make it > Happen? ***** I just want to know that it CAN be done. I'm starting to believe it can. I'm giving you and John McTighe the benefit of the doubt because you both seem to make a lot of sense. I find that WAY TOO OFTEN when I ask for proof, I get a flimsy turnaround that I have a "bad attitude" for asking. I'm an old-school Thomas Paine realist and skeptic. I read Michael Shermer and Carl Sagan. I ask questions. I look for scientific evidence of assertions...but I am also willing to TEST theories. (I'm also skeptical about skepticism!) But it's nice to hear someone say it can be done every once in a while. When I do it...and notice I say WHEN...I'm going to tell people who ask that "YES...it can be done...I DID it! Here's the proof!" (Of course, only if asked...remember "Fly low and collect the dough!") > Here is where I MUST kick you in the > ****...you are FREE. You are ALIVE. Loving > relationships cost you NOTHING...good > friends can't be bought... True. I'm not saying I don't have loving relationships right now, nor that I would wait until I'm doing well to have them. My point here is to have the TIME to enjoy them, not slaving at a desk 40-60 hours a week waiting for death. > Don't confuse FREEDOM with being able to buy > things. Never! It's just PAYING THE RENT and the bills, that's all. I don't want THINGS. I want TIME. Time to think. Time to write. Time for fun. > GREAT motivation. Only after work, hit the > gym or pool and "wash" the work > day off of you and then put that time to > use. **** Gordon, I'm sorry, but when you're working at a job 40 hours a week, plus 10 hours commuting time, doing work you hate, you begin to disrespect yourself...and you get tired...very tired. That's how I was. My mind is lucid only about 2 hours a day (and VERY lucid), but those 2 hours occur mostly during the day, usually when I'm working for someone else. Maybe I have health problems more than ADD, I don't know. See, you > have the same freedom to enjoy the great > artists as the richest men on earth... True. But here is my life right now: I go to Starbucks. I sling coffee all day, come home, get yelled at by my relative (okay...okay...it's my mother...it's embarrassing) for what a cockamamie "dreamer" I am ("Have you considered the post office? What about the phone company?") ("Everything you've tried has never worked!") ("Aren't you embarrassed to be as old as you are and not with a company?"). I attempt, as Emerson counseled, to retreat into my thoughts and goals like silent affirmations, and remain silent. You see, my living arrangements really rot right now...it's very hard to concentrate on ANYTHING but finding a way out. Which is why I'm putting chatteling at top-billing, number one priority in order to build the other goals. The step-by-step approach. Sorry. I'm venting. I'm glad this forum is a place I feel comfortable doing so. > What is the SECRET? I'll tell you. It ain't > a system, method or technique, or even > knowledge...it is GUIDED ACTIVITY What and > HOW you do it isn't important, there are > literally 1001 ways to make a fortune. . > **** I agree about guided activity. Constant forward motion built with Momentum. So what's my point here? That yes, I believe it's good to have all your goals in a form of Momentum, however small, but if your living arrangements are akin to a living hell, then some of those goals will suffer because your mind won't be able to focus on them with the intensity they deserve. Money. Without it, there is no freedom. It purchases freedom and a certain security (health insurance, etc.) Can't live without it. More later. Thanks for letting me vent and thanks for your kind words. John |
Re: Shakespeare..."Blitzing"...Skepticism...Momentum
Hi John,
I can identify with where you are right now, and I thought I'd share with you some things that have helped me. First, about your Mom. You're in your 30s. That means your parents were raised by people who lived through the depression. Depending on their age, they might have experienced some of it, early in life. That's a biggie. They're fixed on never being hungry again, keeping a "good" job, and generally trying to live as if the paradigm of life in the US hasn't shifted. And they won't change. You must. ---- I believe I read something of Og Mandino's that said essentially "keep it to yourself." You'll get a brilliant, workable idea, share it with somebody before you begin to implement it, and before you know it, they'll convince you of why it won't work. About the Mom thing, take her advice - - at least as far as she knows. Get the applications, ask her a few questions (even if you know the answers!) let her see you "off to the mailbox." Check with her everyday to see if there's been a response. Ask her for other possibilities. (Of course, if you don't want any of those jobs, you won't *really* mail the letters . . . you just let her think you did. It'll preempt some of the criticism that your subconscious doesn't need right now.) Let her think she's really helpful and that you're acting on her suggestions. __ In terms of thinking about the present situation I had some LOOOONNNG talks with myself. I knew certain things: Everything that is not a part of the natural world began in the mind of somebody, as a thought. That same mechanism, thought, that can produce airplanes and cars and footstools and *stuff* can alter your present situation. It can change what reality is. I know that my reality is shaped by my attention- the deliberate application of my thinking -to that present reality. If I dwell on lack, I get more lack. This is a world of plenty, and we all have the equipment we need to produce "something" from "nothing." I know. It's getting pretty "far out there," but it works for me. Every minute I spend thinking about what I don't have, and what I can't do and why, is a minute I spend NOT taking a step toward what I CAN do, what I want to do. Even now, I'm writing. And enjoying it. I could remind myself of a thousand other things I "should" be doing. But right now, I'm writing. This minute, and for as long as this post takes. I've given up the habit of "shoulding" on myself. I've given up thinking there's something I need to do first. I know longer accept that what I want to do must be evaluated and/or sanctioned by somebody before I begin it. I let go of projecting "future" happiness - future prosperity - future whatevers. All I have is NOW. Hell, nobody's promised me an "after," or a "when." There could be a Mack truck out there just waiting for me . . . I saw Oprah's name mentioned in one of the threads. I admire and respect her, and I listen to what she says - I listen very carefully to her offhand comments . . . Once on a show (have no clue what the show was about) she happened to say something like ". . .so everyday when I'm in the tub with my candles and scents, I close my eyes and visualize what I want my day to be like." Powerful stuff, visualization. Of course, I think that belief in its power precedes the benefits of any visualization . . . thoughts are, indeed, things. What you hold in your mind is what is ultimately manifest in your existence. Exorcise "can't" from your vocabulary. Think instead, "not Yet," or "not immediately clear to me." Get rid of "NO." Think "Not in this way, not at this time, not with person x's help. . ." Prosperity is a decision you make. I have only to envision a woman in Afganistan or one of those other places, draped in that crap, to know how truly prosperous I am. I've begun to behave like Eubie Blake did. He chose, every day, to be happy. His choice was responsible for our having a ton of memorable tunes - stuff people the world over hum frequently. Just recently, I found myself totally engrossed in an undertaking that literally ripped every negative thought, every inkling of want totally out of me for the duration of the project. I was OK. (Any so-called IT expert who, on hearing what I planned, could give me song and verse on why I couldn't do it. Yet, before the month is out, I will be hosting my own domain on my own server.) These days, I recall that "zoned feeling" and I try to let myself have it with as many of the things I do as I can. And I'm getting better at it. I'm building my own server, and in studying documentation to learn what I needed to secure the thing so I can go live, I lost an entire day! (Yesterday, in fact.) Yep. Rolled outta bed about 5:30a.m., got busy, and around what I thought was noon, I went to the store. Imagine my shock (and subsequent delight) to find that it was 6:30p.m., and that I'd spent the entire day totally engrossed in my project! Will it lead to money? I quit wanting money. (I can get a job. I figure that none of the resumes or applications I've put in have paid off because maybe, just maybe, I'm communicating to them that I don't want the damned job in the first place! When I've saved enough, I'm going to get a copy of Remote Hypnosis to try and validate that) I quit *WANTING* a lot of stuff. Like Gordon, I value my time to just think. I've come to the conclusion that just the wanting, itself may be an obstacle. (Yeah, I'm out there, again!) Think about it. Would you rather WANT the Lottery Jackpot, or would you rather HAVE it? If thoughts are really things, as I believe, which thought puts you closer to the jackpot? I'm signing off, now. I've been rambling, and maybe my thinking is way out of line. Sometimes I just need to communicate the stuff I need to absorb. Thanks for your patience, Marye (feel free to write to me. eliminate the obvious in my email address) |
Everything I communicate is what I need to learn
Marye,
You wrote: >Sometimes I just need to communicate the stuff I need to absorb. Charity begins at home, they say, and that's why I post messages... to help people... Starting with helping myself. That's why I post so much: I'm selfish! I let a few hours go by and then I re-read what I wrote and a clear picture about the author (me) is formed in my head. And I understand what I wrote more than I did when I wrote it. Usually as soon as I realize something I post a message about it, and then a few hours later I re-read it and learn something. I'm not afraid of embarassing myself on the forums, though sometimes when I read something I posted I blush furiously and I cringe--and blushing and cringing teaches me something, too. Sometimes I hesitate before hitting the post button, like I did before confessing about the music in my head, but if my intuition says "Post it" I hit the button. Posting messages is the best thing since sliced bread! Best, - Boyd |
Blitz away....
>I'm more > of a 3-days max out blitz kind of person,
Blitz away...take those three days and write like mad...put your thoughts on paper...transcribe them to a word document and then into an ebook...you don't have a subject? How about..."Bootstrapping Your Way Back - from bankruptcy and failure to success - I DID It and You Can Too!" Granted people in that target market may not be able to afford 39.95 but I'll bet they could scrape up $9.95 or even $19.95 if your sales copy showed them there is a light at the end of the tunnel and you a re going to suggest the ways to get there. May not be a huge money maker but it might just generate enough to get things back towards the right track. Use your experience so far and your anticipated moves you will use to climb back up. Use clickbank to accept payments...eeks I don't have a web site you say....well I will provide you a free one if you like and want to go that route....no strings attached! Why would I do this?....I have been in business for over 31 years and I have been where you are more than once, and someone came along and gave me a helping hand on my first such experience...it was what I needed to get back on track...and that was at the ripe old age of 21. On Jobs, Business, Entrepreneurialism, et al
John (and others who are reading this):
I'm pretty sure most people would agree that having Multiple Streams of Income is better than income from a single source. After all, if you only have one source of income and something happens to it, you are in trouble. Whereas, if you have more than one source of income and something happens to one of the sources, you are still okay because you still have money coming in. Simple concept, right? Maybe that's part of what makes becoming an entrepreneur hard for some people... They grow up in a society raised on a foundation of single-source-income. Yet, being an entrepreneur means having more than one source of income - your customers, various businesses, etc. IF we learn by doing things on a smaller scale before moving onto doing the same thing on a larger scale, then doesn't it make sense to first get yourself more than one source of income? Sure it does. And even Kiyosaki advises to start a small part-time business. But that is putting the cart before the horse. We have to learn to have more than one source of income before we learn how to do it with a business. We need small steps. To achieve this... without a business... means getting two jobs - two jobs equals two sources of income. But, not two full-time jobs, or one full-time and one part-time... that would have you working too many hours. Get two part-time jobs instead. Not only will it give you the full-time income and more than one source of income, it will give you variety. By spending half as much time in each place as you would in a full-time situation, your stress level should come down, and time should appear to go faster. And before you know it, each four hour part-time job will have finished. Once you have two sources of income established, it's time to begin your business. But what of the part-time jobs? You do not have to give them up, if you don't want to. You merely have to juggle your income sources around so they allow you the time to start your business. As most business is conducted during daylight hours, you need to have daylight hours somewhat free. And to do that, one or both of your part-time jobs should be a night/evening job. Either janitorial work or process work in a factory (before you think lowly of process workers, I know some who make $50,000 a year while their supervising manager makes $30,000!). Doing the night work will allow you the free time during the day to conduct your business. If you want to add to this mix of part-time job(s) and business, you can do some casual work... Contact your nearest major sporting arena and ask them WHO does the venue cleaning after the game. Then contact the venue cleaning company and tell them you WANT TO WORK. The work will probably be in the evening after the game has finished or early in the morning (the next morning). And will probably entail picking up discarded drink containers, food containers, straws, etc., etc. Not glamorous. Not fancy. And beneath many people. But hey, it's a part of your Multiple Streams of Income. At this point you are now a Jack of All Trades. Your friends and relatives will think you are nuts... like a Gypsie almost... and urge you to stop this silly nonesense and get one job. But by now you will not be able to have just one job. You will feel good about your income - even if it is not huge - because it is coming from more than one place and that means Security. You won't be stressed by those doing the urging because nothing they say will matter - and you will wonder how they can think such silly thoughts. So you will have the security of more than one source of income as well as the comfort from your small business venture. This all adds up to give you a taste of financial independence - supporting yourself and not relying on any one person or job. Even if your business is not making huge wads of cash it doesn't matter. The fact it is there and is another stream of income is what is important. Recap:

A simplification
Michael, I like your plan, but let's simplify:
1) Work at a job -- any job you can find -- to pay the basic bills. 2) Chattel -- Start small, even if it's only a $5 profit. The next one will be $10, the next one $20, etc. until you're making $2000 a week, however long that takes. That's it. Simple, huh? Can it be done? Well, I'm about to PROVE that it CAN be done. I'll be the litmus test for all the readers of this forum. And so far so good. Another call today -- people coming to me with chattel to sell. I love this. John (By the way, Michael, I have your "Success Report" and it is excellent. Everybody get it now! It's worth it.) |
Thank you, Cornell! I'll email you (DNO)

John you wrote -

Did you learn this from Gordon's material? Another program? I too am interested in chattel thanks to Gordon and the rest. I am moving slow toward getting started. Research and small tests to see if I can actually do this and make a profit. I think I can but I want to go about it the right way. Ken |
