The sourest lemons make the sweetest lemonade

Hi,

In my humble opinion the next fifteen years is going to seem more like "Acres of Sour Lemons" than "Acres of Diamonds."

To make them into sweet sweet lemonade, I'm going to throw myself into the information product creation business.

Right now info-products for instant download tend, overall, to produce a reaction like "Oh, that's nice, but I'd rather step out for a Happy Meal and then go to the latest computer animated bear movie."

I predict that reaction is going to drastically change for the better. Demand for fast-reading, accurate, stripped-down, no-nonsense information (to use Halbert's phraseology) is going to look like the inverse of what the stock market is doing.

I don't have advice for anyone, but if I did it would be to stay a few steps ahead of what the herd is interested in knowing.

Hope this was useful or interesting...

Best,

- Boyd

Hi Boyd,

My feeling with downloadable info-products is that, it's just a matter of people getting used to them....

The advantages are instant access and viewing. They are also portable... If you've ever lugged around a case full of books, you know what I mean! I've done it, and I value reports which I can take with me on a floppy disk or burn on to a CD-ROM.... :)

With The Great Ideas Letter, we've experimented with a new format - newsletters in PDF format, delivered by email. So far, it seems to be working great, and it's a success! :)

So, my views are that the future of downloadable products seems bright - ESPECIALLY if the information is time-sensitive. This could occur with some newsletters, where a delay in postage could make a difference in the value of the information. A daytrading-related newsletter could fall into that category, for example....

Our President the other day said the future looked bright. Given the famous song, that scares the poo out of me!

Best,
