Turning an idea into reality...
Last September, I was sitting in front of the computer, surfing the Internet forums and adding to my knowledge of starting my own business when it hit me.
A message posted by Don Alm. The title was "Business in a post". In the message, Don shared his ideas about a community website. After reading the message, I knew I was in trouble. Bells rang, the jigsaw puzzle assembled itself, and smoke escaped from both of my ears. In that moment, I had decided to get off of the sidelines and into the game.. it was time to DO something. I have been a lurker on the forums for quite a while now. The one thing I keep seeing is people being content to sit on their behinds and saying to themselves, "Not yet." I too was one of those people. But I gritted my teeth, clenched my fists and jumped into the business waters. Guess what? It's not as scary as you imagine it to be. I set up a webpage that shows what can be done when a person decides it is time to do something. Click on the link below for the full story. Rick Hunter Click Here for the full story |
Congratulations on being a "doer"...!
Hi Rick,
Congratulations on "doing something"! That's the first step.... Now, you've got to get your place known to your local community. One way to do this is to contact your local newspapers and send them a press release.... You also say you're not a "sales" guy.... I think almost anyone can learn some sales skills, with some practice. Another possibly good idea is to joint-venture with someone locally to help market your site. Joint-venturing is an excellent way for your business to "acquire" the skills you may need which you don't have already.... Good luck with it all, and feel free to ask any help here if you want it. :) - Dien Rice |

I suggest approaching those businesses that currently advertise in local community papers and in the coupon mailers (like ValPak). I'm pursuing a couple of Don's business ideas myself, and I'll let y'all know how it goes. |

Hi Chris,
Can you share with us what business ideas of Don's you are pursuing? Or, if you would like to send me an email please do. Thanks, Raymond ------------------------------------------- > That's great, Rick!
