How To Get a Top Ranking On Google
Google has the second highest traffic rank on the Internet and is one of the only search engines that still lists web pages for free. Your results will also appear on Yahoo.com, resulting in lots of quality free traffic to your web site.
Follow these steps if you want to get a high rank on Google. Google ranks a web page using an algorithm based on the relevancy of key words in the site title and body text, aswell as the number of high ranking web sites that link to it. Google has a toolbar that is free to download, which integrates into your web browser. The toolbar lists each web site's ranking from 1 to 10. It also shows you which pages are linking back to it and has a Google search box for searching the web. You can download the toolbar here. http://google.com/toolbar.html Before you submit your web site to Google, you need to find some popular key terms that people would search for when they are looking for your web pages. You can find popular key terms using the Overture search term suggestion tool. It tells you how many people search for a particular word each month and lists all the popular key terms relating to that word. http://inventory.overture.com/d/searchinventory/suggestion/ The key words you choose can not be highly popular on Google. You can tell if your key terms are popular by searching the web using the Google toolbar. Check to see how many exact matches are in the search result's titles and what the Google traffic rank of the top 5 web sites is. The top web sites should not have a rank of more than 5 or you will not be able to compete with them. When you have some key terms that get searched for at least 1000 times a month on Overture, but do not have high competition on Google, choose the best three and use them in your site's title and at least a couple of times some where near the top of your main webpage text. Google results are also shown on Yahoo.com, who also rank sites based on the key words in your web site address. So, if you haven't registered your domain name yet, use one that has some good keywords. When you have your web page uploaded to your web server and your domain name is pointing to it, you need to swap links with other high ranking web sites so that Google will give a good rank to your site. Look for sites with a high Google traffic rank that have a reciprocal links page and ask the web master if they will exchange links with you. You could also register your web site at linkpartners.com. Just set up a reciprocal links page on your web site similar to the one on my webpage. When you have your key word optimized web site and at least 20 high ranking sites linking to you, Google will find your site on all of the other high ranking sites and list your web site. You can submit your site directly to Google at this page. It is also a good idea to submit all the pages linking to yours so your site is listed quicker. It may take 1 - 3 months for your site to be ranked by Google. When your site is ranked it will appear near the top of the search results page when people search for the key terms you chose for your site's title. You can make as many small web sites as you wish using this technique. The more pages you have with good key words and high ranking links, the more highly targeted free traffic you will get to your web site. I disagree...
I choose keywords that have AT LEAST 30,000 searches per month.
It's still obtainable. Even if you get ranked on page 2, you'll still receive 800-1000 visits a day. I don't think that you'll get enough traffic/sales to do $10K-$15K a month if your main keywords only get one thousand searches a month. - Adam. Browning Direct |

I started marketing on the Internet at the beginning of the year 2000. I run another off line business and only spend about 10 hours a week on Internet marketing.

So how come I'm #1 and didn't do what you recommend?!
Interesting suggestions, but the fact is that if you look up "marketing consultant" on Google , I'm #1 (out of 1.47 million) and I most definitely did not do the things you recommend.
Oh well, there is theory and then there is reality. Marcia Yudkin Affiliate program for high-quality, high-priced special reports |
I think it goes both ways...
Hello, by the way.
Let me explain. Some of what Luke is saying is true. But Marcia has #1 ranking the same reason my competition is #1 Keyword in browser title Great ratio of keywords through text but the most ignored is: KEYWORDS IN LINKS! And links to relevant content I do disagree with the *need*, if any, to have top 20 sites linking to you. Not true, my competition has a website that is ALWAYS #1 (grrrr) and I am always #4/5 I noticed the pattern of google a while back and now I am trying to modify the site for this pattern. I guarantee, that as long as Marcia keeps an unpaid listing in Google, and removes the keywords from her links she will not be #1. The site will always be #1 so long as she has the title/header/links. I know this because I went from 4-5-4 with these changes and have seen my competition suffer losing links. So I see it both ways. Also, click on the "cached" link for every listing, you will see Marcia's going to have a million more highlighted words, so she deserves her ranking. But I do believe the pattern I see with my competition, Marcia, and others, with links having keywords, is more than a multi-website coincidence. Joel |
