Any aspiring actors out there?

I frequently browse ebay and came across an unusual auction yesterday. If you ever wanted to be in a movie, or know an aspiring actor, then check out:

Re: Any aspiring actors out there?

Wow! Rather than paying some no-name scale for the part, they're actually going to get someone to PAY THEM to let them be in the movie! Genius! And, of course, there's no guarantee it will be another "cult hit". Most struggling actors wouldn't have the cash (current bid over $500), but I guess somebody does who wants their "shot". (Or, just to be able to say they were in a real-honest-to-God movie.) Not me, brother.

Now, if it was a Star Trek or Star Wars movie, then... 8^}

Caution to actors

This is the movie equivalent of a vanity press for books - where you pay a publisher to print copies of your book that you buy.

If this film were ever to be distributed anywhere at all, it would have to comply with the requirements of several unions, none of which permit actors to pay for their roles.

This is a clever eBay gimmick, but anyone who buys into it is guaranteeing the movie will never be seen by anyone.

Re: Caution to actors

Everything Robert said is true. And I would hope all the bidders understand this and are simply participating for the novelty of it, to have a video to show friends held hostage, or for a little story to tell friends.

But still, neat idea.

Success,

Erik

Come to New Zealand.....

The filming of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, with its massive battle scenes has meant that almost every kiwi who ever wanted to be on the silver screen has now appeared in the movies. Its pretty hard to avoid it in such a small place. Its been a real boon to the local economy, creating on going work in a lot of fields where you would typically scratch a living. One person worked for 2 years dyeing material and making costumes. Another friend worked for a year as a blacksmith, making and repairing armour etc.
