Eudora email software.. Is it good?

Hi,

Does anyone have try Eduora email software before? In what way or ways it is better than microsoft outlook express and microsoft outlook?

Thanks in advance for any advice and suggestions

Good? What is "good"?

Darren:

Good is a matter of opinion.

First, I would NEVER use a Microsoft Email program. They are full of flaws which the hackers keep on exploiting. Over and over and over. How many email virus attacks does it take before people wake up and cease using software which can so easily be infected (Microsoft Outlook, etc.)

That basically leaves two other email programs... Eudora and Pegasus.

I have tried both. Not just as software to send and receive emails but as software to manage email lists.

Of the two, I prefer Pegasus. It's easy. Straight forward. Names are added to and removed from lists with the click of a button. I do not need to know anything about file moving to create additional lists. I can have virtually unlimited folders and subfolders (like Windows Explorer - the file utility progam). It is NOT able to be infected by email viruses. Allows you to set up all the filters you want - quickly and easily. Enables you to check multiple POP accounts and to send email with different "From" and "Reply To" addresses with a click of the mouse. Multiple people can use the one program and still have their email be private. And best of all... it is Free.

If you want desktop email software to manage your list, go with Pegasus. (If your list is huge - 10,000 or so - you are better off with an online system.)

You can download Pegasus here: http://www.pmail.com/

What online system are you talking about?

Good is as Good does

Darren:

The online systems I am refering to are list management scripts.

You see, Pegasus is a desktop program. It runs on your computer. So if you use it to send email to a large list it will take time. (You will have to wait for it.)

When sending email to a large list which is handled by a web-based script, once you click the send button you are free to go about your "work." The website which hosts the script will do everything that is necessary to send your mail out.

NOTE: Some scripts require you to also wait for them to finish before you can continue browsing. Read the information about the script before installing it.

By the way... with using scripts you basically have two choices...

1: Run the script on your own website. Either buy the script or use a free one and install it. (Some website hosts provide free mailing list software with your hosting package.)

2: Use a third party list management script. These are hosted elsewhere and you use their services. (Just like using Hotmail.) Three examples of theses types of service are: GetResponse.com, Sendfree.com and InformationByEmail.com. There are lots more than these. A search on Google will give you plenty to choose from.

Some people (subscribers) prefer their email to be on an independent (third party) system. Makes it easier to unsubscribe.

Some people don't really care either way. (As long as the email address being sent to is not a hotmail or yahoo email address.)

Hope this helps.

Re: Eudora email software.. Is it good?

Hi

I downloaded their free version and used it for some time. Corey Rudl of Marketingtips.com highly recommends it. I prefer to use web based software for sending bulk email. For personal emails, I find it quite useful and much better than outlook in some respects.
