Question about Pegasus mail

Hello, folks,

I am using Pegasus 4.01 as a mail client.

I receive several emails a day that are html.

They do not display properly. No pictures.

I have looked through the help files and
the preference window trying to find what
to click to turn on html.

So far I am still in the dark--with no pictures.

Does any one know what I should be doing to
display html?

Thanks!

JDB

Answer about Pegasus mail

John:

Go to Tools/Options/Reader Settings and choose your options for "Handling HTML and Rich Text Messages".

Hope this helps.

Here is what you can do

I believe it is a security feature in Pegasus that prevents downloading images and scripts from the web once the email has been opened. For people who include the images as attachments, it works fine when these html email messages are read in Pegasus.

So how do you see everything in the message?

With the message open press "Ctrl + S" and save the messages as an html file to your desktop -- then open it with your browser.

Michael,

My version of Pegasus (4.01) doesn't offer a
"Reader settings" or "Handling Html and Rich
Text Messages" option.

I think I have tried every option to no avail.

Thanks for your response.

Steve,

Your advice worked...saving the file and then
opening it in my browser displayed a very nice
HTML page. However, it is a lot of trouble.

I would rather have someone send me a text file
with a link to a web page...

I still like my email to be text only.

Thanks for your tip.

Getting you to try one thing, waiting for feedback and then trying another, will take forever using the boards like this.

A lot of time can be saved if you can save an image of what your "Options" window looks like. Then post it and we can figure out which tab the setting will most likely be under.

For instance. Here is my options window (with reader settings selected):

Notice the HTML options near the bottom.

Or, just go through every tab and "Advanced" or other setting on each Tab until you find what you want.

I am using an older version of Pegasus. I can't imagine them removing such an important option such as how you want the reader to view things!

Michael, here's a screen capture...

Michael,

Here is a screen capture of the options for my
version of Pegasus.

I have opened every window in this list, and so
far have not found an HTML option. It speaks
of "fancy"???

Thanks for your help...I'm about ready to put
this one on the shelf, and come back to it later.

Re: Michael, here's a screen capture...

John:

The fancy choice should let you see the text as it should be formatted within Pegasus - fonts, sizes, bold, etc. Unclick it and all text will display at the font and size you have set for it.

Alas, pictures being displayed within Pegasus won't happen.

Most emails with pictures use a picture mostly as an email header. Just something to make the email look nice and not serve any purpose.

As you saw with my options window... I don't read anything with formating. I like to keep it just plain text.

Pictures which come as attachments just have to be saved and viewed with another app.

Sorry :o(
