Heheh... Sandy, I missed your posts.... :) Then I noticed you have your own great discussion forum going too.... But I won't tell where it is unless you let me. :)

Sandy, you're on the road to success, I know it.... Congratulations!

I've found that half the battle on the road to success is getting out there and DOING something. So if you've done that, then you're well over half way there....

Keep up the great work! :)

discussion board & thanks

Thanks for the compliment...a friend and I
decided a discussion board would be a good
way for us to get together and discuss issues
we've been personally dealing with. Sometimes
just posting on a board is a substitute experience for keepng a daily journal.

My intention was not to exclude anyone but to
keep a private board for just a couple of people.
I'm not at the level yet of monitoring several
posts....

What's interesting Dien...I find that having
private boards give you a chance to discuss
some issues which you feel some other board
members might not be able to appreciate...

I know you understand the private board issue
and the need to have a board where you can
feel free to discuss somethings with input from
people who know you personally...

I haven't been posting on many boards lately..
Your board was one of many...In general,I
have felt comfortable with your board and you
have some interesting discussion going on.
However, I've learned it's better to discuss
some things online with people who really want
to "get to know you" and understand you.

Anyhow...thanks for dropping in...

And yes..I'm working at becoming more technologically astute...It's hard work and
I can appreciate even more the amount of work
it takes to develop a website and discussion
board such as yours. You have some very talented
people on your board and one day I know I'll
be such...

thanks again

That's a very creative idea.... :)

Yes, I can understand the strength of that....

It can be like a "private journal" being written by more than one person, perhaps.... :) It seems like a more powerful concept than just your standard private journal.... I think your use of a forum to do that is very creative!

Yes, not everything might be best for public discussion sometimes....

However, hopefully we're trying to make this a friendly place.... I want to be honest, I wish we had more women contributors. Women are a HUGE part of entrepreneurship, and an increasing part of the future of the internet.... And without enough women, a place is unbalanced....

It isn't always easy, but I hope we can make this a very friendly place for both women and men, and hopefully we can get a balance happening.... Women are VERY VERY welcome at Sowpub....

Sandy.... you may not realize it, but I was *including* you as one of the very talented people who sometimes visit here....

You're quite a creative person, Sandy. Even just the new "private journal" use you've developed for a discussion board shows that! I never even thought of doing that.... I think it shows great creativity. :) And I also believe you are quite courageous, because speaking out on various things takes a certain amount of courage, which you have.... I respect and admire that.... :)

So... I hope I haven't embarassed you at all, but you are one of the talented people who have posted here, and I'm very grateful....

Thank you too, Sandy.... :)

Re: more women

I've been inviting women to the board...and
some men(smile)...
but on a serious note....
Ivillage.com has some really good discussion
boards..and many men participate and are welcome
as well...They're rated tops in their boards
which relate to "writing" non-fiction and
fiction...you might want to visit the boards..

Also, bizymom.com has great boards as well..
and interesting chat room topics which deal
with business.

In fact when I'm out on the web and I see
a great website..I email the owner and encourage
them to come by this board, especially if
there interest resonates with yours...
There is a way to contact people without spamming
but it takes a "genuine" one on one approach.
I always give them something instead of just
asking them to do something for me...

In time I hope some of them will show up and
post...and let you know Sandy sent them..I've
met many people on line by just dropping into
their website(or their home) and sending them
a nice casual email...I think it works for me
because I'm not trying to "sell" anything..
Just sharing resources with them...

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll definitely check them out. I'll add them to Entrepreneur-Web (my list of business-related discussion forums) if it's appropriate too.... :)

Thanks Sandy.... I didn't know about these. I'll definitely be checking them out too.... :)

Wow, I'm grateful for that, Sandy.... :)

Sandy, when you have a web site you do want to promote, please let me know! :)

Thanks Sandy for your tips.... You seem to know what you're doing.... :)

I believe you'll be successful at what you want to do, I can feel it in my bones!

Cheers... :)

Re: That's a very creative idea.... :)

Hi Sandy and Dien --

A private board is a great idea. We've used small private mailing lists in the past for similar purposes. Just subscribe the few people who need to be on the list and we talk away. Works great for projects and such. This way you don't have to worry about getting everyone cc'd on an email. I set the mailing list software to put custom subject lines to make each project easy to track in the inbox.

Thought this might be useful for someone here.
