Increasing Traffic to SowPub
 

Thanks Dien for running a wonderful forum so well.

One suggestion: instead of placing the digg buttons on all posts, place stumbleupon.com or reddit.com buttons. They will bring in a lot more traffic - even if just 8-9 people vote for it.

(I would also suggest that you don't show the buttons on all posts. Show them on just the selected good posts - that way - people won't be blind to them.)

To Everyone Else Who Loves This Forum:

1. Go to http://www.stumbleupon.com and download their toolbar.

2. Then open 3 recent posts on this forum that you liked. (Within the past 30 days or so). And vote for them using the stumbleupon toolbar.

That will bring in some new visitors to SowPub.

I see you've noticed my little "Digg button" experiment... :)

I'm still trying to get it to work the way I want it to (at the moment, for some reason, it's not behaving the way I want it to in long threads...)

I haven't checked into stumbleupon or reddit... I'll look into that, too! Thanks! :)

In my experience: stumbleupon.com has the higest potential to generate traffic - if you're not already extremely famous.

Reddit.com is ok. Digg.com is good only if you can make it to their front page (which would require *atleast* 50-100 diggs from your community fairly quickly.) But with stumbleupon.com - you can get a lot of traffic with just a handful of votes. So do check them out.

I had a look at the plugin for vBulletin... I guess what I did was "create" my own plugin (though I didn't realize that's what I was doing at the time). However, it shouldn't be too hard to adapt their one... I'll be looking into it!

Also, regarding stumbleupon - I'll be looking into that too!
