Youtube Video Gets over 6,000 views in 30 days. What would you do with these leads?

Hello all,

My ten year old daughter and I recently uploaded a 90 second video to youtube. We have had over 6,000 views in a little over 30 days. The subject matter is what some would consider a niche market. Check it out for yourself if you like. You can see it at *** Youtube.com/Oldschoolchoppers ***

We have been Emailed by people all over the world telling how much they like our product (video). I have over 25 years journeymen level experience in this particular field.

My question to the Sowpub community is this . . . . What would you do with these potential customers? And how can some of us on this board use Youtube to promote our goods and services?

Thanks in advance.

Hi George,

Thanks for sharing your story!

I haven't done it myself, but it sure looks like YouTube can be a great list-building/traffic generation tool. (I think you can include a link to your website in the description too, can't you?)

If you're camera-shy, you can still use YouTube. You can hide behind a costume (check out all the "Ask a Ninja" videos - they're hilarious!), or you can just show "stuff" (cars, model trains, jewelry, etc.), or you can show powerpoint-type slides and/or animations...

Anyway, once you have a list of people interested in a particular thing, you can promote to that email list. Promote your own products, other people's products (via an affiliate link), and so on.

To keep people reading, give them value too... I think the ezine or emailed newsletter is still a good idea. It doesn't have to be in a "structured" form, it can take the form of a personal letter on a regular basis, telling people lots of cool stuff, combined with some promotional material to pay for your time.

Contrary to what some people may say, email lists are definitely not dead - but still alive and fiercely kicking!

Cheers,

Dien

P.S. Check out my own email list offering below!

New things are exciting...

I remember the "heady" days when the internet was new. People were getting million-dollar venture capital funds out of nowhere, and millionaires and billionaires were being made overnight...

It was an exciting time. (Thank goodness some of that was captured in the movie "Startup.com" - check it out if you want to "relive" those days!)

People were talking about the "new economy"... You weren't supposed to do business the "old fashioned" way. If you did, you just didn't "get it". So they said.

In the end, most of those who didn't follow the "old rules" (but who instead thought that it was "eyeballs" that counted, not profits!) went belly-up...

Who survived?

In most cases, it was those using the new technology - but still following the old rules!

Whenever there's a new technology - online video, podcasting, and internet transmissions from spacecraft (wait, it's coming!) - the people who will succeed are those who apply the "old" rules to the "new"...

I agree with those (like Gordon and others) who say - study the direct marketing classics! Then - apply what you know to the new technology...

That's how to succeed!

I've learned a lot from Gordon Alexander, and I'm still learning a lot from him... Pay attention to what he says. He sure distributes some "gold" in his posts...

Hi George,

You may want to check out metacafe.com

They pay you for video views - if your video meets their criteria. (They don't pay everyone who uploads videos on their website - just a few of them. But its worth checking them out and seeing if you can get paid.)

Also - can you add a blue screen at the end of the video with your website URI on it? This way, you can build a list of people interested in your topic.

A few other ideas: contact bloggers and ezine publishers in your niche and send them the video link. They may show it to their audience. Youtube makes embeding of videos very easy. So you can use that to your advantage.

Some years ago I had a unique program to sell. I thought that just trying to sell prospects with ONE Sales Letter or ONE of anything would NOT bring me the sales I needed.

I realised I had to "Reel Them In"....like a little TugBoat brings in a giant frieghter;

The tug shoots a Nylon Line over the freighter's bow. The crew on the freighter pull the line up and...attached to the end of the nylon line is a ROPE...which the crew starts pulling up and...attached to the end of the rope is a CHAIN.

They pull the chain up and now the little tug has a CHAIN to pull the giant frieghter.

So...what I did was offer, in my sales Letters or display ads (Again, this was way before You Tube or the Internet)....a FREE Preview Video which further explained my program.

However, my "FREE" Preview Video wasn't exactly "Free". They could get my Preview Video by sending me a "Refundable Deposit of $20". If they didn't like the program...they could send the Video back and I'd refund their 20bux.

However, only about 1 in 100 returned the Preview Videos.

And....I did sell to over 20% of those who bought my "Free" Preview Video.

So...what you can use YouTube for is your "Introductory Video". Get Viewers interestedenough so they take a step and sign up to receive a Link to another site.

Think of YouTube as the "Nylon Rope" the tug uses.

Re: Using YOUTUBE to MAKE Money With Google Adsense

I know that I am very late on this since it seemed to be written
last year and the viewer ship is over 125,000 now....

Regarding what you should do with high end search engine traffic...

You should have a simple website with content and mulitple videos regarding Chopper Bikes. and then add Google Adsense and YouTube videos per page

You have 25 years experience in a very lucrative field.....

If you can break down details about your experience on one website....the traffic you build with YouTube can be directed towards a adsense/youtube site and can make thousands per month and especially since you specialized in "old school choppers"...there is a market for that
