What about the copyright issues??

Hi Gordon,

Some forum owners put up a clause on their sites that say that all material posted becomes the copyright of that forum.

Legally, I don't believe this to be correct.
I think the writer of the post (if it is his or hers original material) would still own the copyright.

However, I think one would still have to obtain each of the writers permission before republishing it in an e-zine.

This could be very time consuming on a daily or weekly basis. Unless you got a "blanket cover" agreement with the more popular writers to republish anything they have written.

Just my two bobs worth.

Warmest Regards

Re: What about the copyright issues??

Hi,

I thought Gordon was just planning on publishing headlines linked to the actual forum messages (as I did on my former site). Since headlines can't be copyrighted (I believe), and since Gordon would probably want to rewrite them anyway for the sake of clarity (I almost always rewrote the headlines I published), there should be no problem with publishing a list of them.

Best,

-Boyd
