Psychology of entrepreneurship

What author do you think has the best insights into the psychological ins and outs of small business ownership?

I did a search on Amazon on this question to jog my memory and just couldn't find much.

Thanks,
Marcia Yudkin

That is a heck of a good question...

Not too many out there (as you've found) but I did come across one by Sarah and Paul Edwards a few years ago that did have some wonderful content as it applies to the topic... but darned I don't remember which one of their books did it justice.

Take care,

Mike Winicki

What's driving me bananas is that I know I'm on the mailing list (postal mail of a psychologist in NYC that specializes in this, but I can't think of her name. Also I once interviewed a psychologist who treats self-sabotaging executives whom I've seen quoted a lot in Fast Company in the last few years, but I can't think of his name, either!

No, that's not it, but thanks for making me aware of the book. I will look into this one.

I got a lot out of Michael Gerber's first "The E-myth". I didn't care for the follow up writngs though.

This isn't a direct response to your question, but it is nevertheless interesting:

Bal,

Interesting that in that article they contrast "entrepreneurs" and "normal people."

Entrepreneurs are by definition abnormal? Not where I come from. Both my grandfathers were entrepreneurs, as was my father and his brother, as are both of my sisters.

I also found it interesting that the evidence was admittedly "anecdotal" and from a Harvard Professor Emeritus who I would venture to guess, was a life long academic.

With Curiosity,
