Needed: Member Approved by Moderator Discussion Board Script That Isn't A Bandwidth Hog...
Know of any?
Thanks. |
Re: Needed: Member Approved....
Hi Aiden,
WebBBS, which is used for this forum, has the option that posts wouldn't appear before it is seen and approved by a moderator. (We don't use that option here because it would slow things down.... I also haven't tested it, but I did notice that the option seems to be available if you want to implement it....) Also, it's easy to edit or remove posts (which is how we deal with posts that go against the guidelines).... That's why we chose to use it.... I don't think it takes up a lot of bandwidth.... I hope that helps, at least some.... :) Maybe some others will also have some other useful comments..... :) Dien Rice P.S. You can find a link to get WebBBS at the very bottom of the main forum page.... |
Re: Needed: Member Approved....
Most scripts have THAT feature. The problem is when you get a minor who's doing 40 posts a day, it's a really drag for the moderators to go in and hunt and delete each post.
It's much easier to have all applicants for passwords manually approved by a moderator. This way, you can usually spot the offending user name and deny them a password. |
Jumping oodles of hurdles....

Hmm... I've thought about this.... My own personal view is that each "hurdle" you make people jump for them to post, just cuts down on the number of people who will post.... And it's tough enough hoping that people will write something as it is. :) (As much as I love to read my own delightful prose, I do occasionally tire of reading posts when I know what's already there -- coz I wrote them! I LOVE to read what other people have to say.... :) So that's why I personally think it's worth the extra hassle.... To make it easier for others to post. Though it certainly helps to have multiple moderators to cut down on the spam etc.... Well, those are my thoughts, for whatever it's worth... :) Dien Rice |
