need input please
Hello, my name is Ray Vaughn. I was introduced to this forum by a friend of mine,Richard Myers, for years I have suspeceted Richard of being full of WIT, and now I am convinced. He suggested I run some of my questions thru this forum but told me to brace myself.
I think I have taken most of the steps needed to begin with my new business, but I am not comfortable with my web-site. The product is totally unique, both on the internet and in retail stores. If a person does not need my product they very likley know somebody that does. By following the very detailed instructions any one can do this work themselves. The product is one of the rare things that has no competition on the internet, so I can really target my adds at a very cost effective way.[I hope] If anyone would be willing to take a look at my site and have any input, be it site work needed, or marketing advice, I could really use the help as I am dumber than a rock when it comes to this type of adventure. Thank YOU Ray Vaughn www.tipsfromthetilepro.com IM Braced, let her fly |
Hi, Ray, Long Time... No Speak...
Let's take a look at Tile Pro and see how we can improve on it.
First, let me say, I like your interior layout. I like the way the tiles change colors with the rollover. VERY interesting. However, to be consistant, you should have your links on your homepage as well. With your "Enter Site" link below the fold at the bottom of the page, I originally thought you were just a one page site. Second, when you open the site proper, it doesn't open a full page... If it opened to a full page you would have all of your contact information above the fold. I would prefer, however, that it just replaced your opening page. Isn't it a bit pretensious listing a single product as a catalog? On your Info page... My question is WHO CARES! You should be using this page to SELL, not give a history of how and why you got around to doing your website. Try something more along these lines... Quote "Save Time, Save Money, Save Your Sanity!" Professional tile contractors HATE small tile cleaning and regrouting jobs. It takes longer to travel between jobs than to do the work! And they still charge YOU between $300 and $500 for a simple job you can do YOURSELF in half the time! EndQuote Run your info page along these lines and I think you will find a much better reception. After all, I (and your prospective clients) don't give a flying rat's earlobe this website has been 10 years in the making... You've done a nice job with the before and after photos. I didn't take a look at your flash thing, but I am usually unimpressed with these anyway. Hope this helps. And next time you talk with Richard, give him a "Howdy for me!" And next time you talk with > Richard, give him a "Howdy for > me!" > Steve Thanks A LOT for the feedback on my request for help with my site, www.tipsfromthetilepro.com . The site is still under construction and not yet ready to be out just yet but I was told I needed to get online to begin the submmision process. We are working on changing most of the text now, that is why this input is greatly appreciated. Mr. Alexander, I think you are exatly right as to women being a large part of my potential market, I just have to figure out how to attract their attention [a problem I have long had]. Mr. Johnson, the quote is great, may I use it. On the catalog , there will be 2 more kits availabe, 1 for repairing the walls and retiling , and 1 for cleaning tile floors. There will also be grab bars and non-slip bottoms for the tubs. OK I admit the info page is a bit corney, it will definitly be rewritten with the emphesis on SELLING. Could I get by with combining the opening page and the second page? What do you think. THANKS AGAIN for the help, as you can tell from my post, writing is not my strongest assett. Ray Vaughn |
Yes. Use the quote if you like...
But it is just a start. The rest of your page MUST follow the same structure... Benefit, benefit, benefit directed to YOU, you, you. Try to make sure every sentence you write is You can do this and You can do that.
There will be a rare occassion when you have to say I or me, but avoid them if at all possible. |
